What did you do to your TJ today?

Installed a Tereflex 231 short shaft. Changed rear differential fluid and new Lubelocker gasket. Figured I’d give it a try. Changed tranny fluid to MT90. Reinstalled my skid plate and now tranny shifts better than it ever has. Added another Wetsounds amp and 2 ea. 8” Wetsounds speakers. Still waiting on the tower pods. For now they are in my race trailer box I had made many years ago. Test drove her to feel if drive felt smooth and all is fine. Still 87 degrees down here in the Galveston area so, beach cruise mañana.

I changed out my 42RLE trans pan for the one with a drain plug and a temp sensor bung soldered courtesy of Mr Blaine! It’s a good thing I got in there as one of the valve body bolts was stuck to the magnet and three more were well on their way to fall out. The only reason I think they didn’t is because the filter body was in the way! When torquing those back in, I checked the others and found four more that were loose.

Oh, and one of the prior owners/ mechanics apparently lost two of the pan bolts and put SAE threads into the metric trans body 😡.

All is better now.

Just a late update on the trans pan/temp gauge. It turns out the powdercoating on the pan and the rtv I used to seal to bolts from leaking has kept the pan from making a ground to the trans case. So basically, my temp sender is un-grounded. lol

I’m going to take one bolt out, grind the PC under the bolt head and keep the rtv to a minimum. We’ll see if that works.

Hello Chuck
Public Service Announcement. :geek:
The name “woodchuck” itself is a source of confusion. Despite the name, woodchucks do not chuck wood. Instead, the term “woodchuck” is believed to be a mispronunciation of the Algonquian word “wuchak,” meaning “digger.”

Despite the common usage of “groundhog” and “woodchuck” interchangeably, there are some key differences between the two.

I didn’t think the TJ Wrangler forum was sponsored by National Geographic 😂

Zippers….time to put the top. Going from my doors on/windbreaker transition month to windows on. 19th year for this top going for one more but question. this gap shown in the past photo. Any ticks tips on closing these gaps. I hate opening the back as they have not ever closed all the way. I suspect that it’s just shrinkage and it is what is? I have sprayed the the with RV dry lubeIMG_4694.jpegIMG_4696.jpeg

Well futz… looks like I blew out the rear window zipper- or is just gave up and telling me not to be so cheap…

“2nd best top on order”. Give the 45oz twill a try.

Swapped out the paper cabin air filter for a washable K&N. Since the filter is a single filter from a JK, I'll have an extra to be able to swap in while washing one.

This filter has only been in since late February. Kinda surprised how much crap the filter caught instead of going into the HVAC. One of the best mods I've done for $50.
