That is why I installed the Newcomer Racing billet thermostat housing. It is worth the money. This Dorman thermostat house kept leaking no matter what I did. I scooped up an old OEM from the scrap yard and installed it. Leak seems to be fixed. No idea why the Dorman was installed by the PO or why it was leaking.
Also replace a sensor on the XJ and fixed a vacuum leak.

Cleaning day today…. Finally got around to cleaning the vent pipe under the cowl… used my leaf blower, vacuum cleaner and an old wire coat hanger…. Quite a bit of crap came out underneath which explains the wet feet when it downpours.View attachment 589559View attachment 589558
Then disconnected the drivers seatbelt to give it a really good clean so it will retract better… fingers crossed this worksView attachment 589560
It is very well made and eliminates the worry of warping. Can't go wrong with quality billet aluminum.I didn’t even know that was an option! That’s a nice piece of work.
Heck yea, just slap a lot of Permatex under a warped housing and your good.Permatex is a LOT cheaper, and accomplishes the same thing. Just sayin'

It looks like they do. I can't say for sure though. The inside is much smoother and has less rough edges.Do they have larger, higher flow passageways inside?
Against my own better judgement, I loaded up the parts shotgun and blasted away at my "no start" issue that began 2 weeks ago. New battery from Costco and new starter from Rockauto.com have NOT solved the no start. When I turn the key to the first position, I get power to everything (lights, climate, etc). Past that to try and start, nothing. No click of solenoid, no nothing. I'm thinking bad ground at this point, but the weather has been keeping me from chasing this down:
