Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ radiator

What did you do to your TJ today?

I regeared my ‘06 with 4.0 liter, 6 speed & 33” tires (‘bought it that way) from 3.08 to 4.56. It’s amazing now!
Here’s some “before & after data for you.

Woohoo!! I wonder if my speedo will be closer or not after this. I'm too cheap to do the speedohealer 🤣 hopefully driving it this week!!!

It almost seems like I'll be at similar RPMs in 5th as I used to cruise in in 4th, which is interesting. But we'll see

Awesome, gears are truly the best thing you can do based on previous vehicles. Curious to hear how you are liking the Truetracs after you get some time with them.

Over the weekend, replaced the failed harmonic balancer and did a cooling system flush and refill.

Hey man, how complicated of a job was that? The Jeep Rubicon I just purchased has the same problem. The Harmonic Balancer failed on Day 1. I didn't even get to drive it a mile. Only 66k on it too. It was a Florida vehicle, maybe the heat dried it out.

Anyways, my local mechanic gave me a ballpark estimate around 700 parts and labor.

It wasn’t really hard. You’ll need a puller and will have to remove the radiator for clearance. I thought about rigging up something just to hold the radiator high enough for clearance but then realized it was time for me to do a flush and fill in the cooling system anyway.

If my Jeep becomes unreliable I'll know why lol

VR1 is 18% off at my local O’Reillys. Not sure if that is available nationally.

Damn that's awesome! The oreilys I go to sells it at regular price of 10 bucks a quart
Is it the same where you're at minus the 18% ?

I’m liking the True Tracks. I’ve had them for nearly 5 years now & they do everything I need. My TJ isn’t a mall crawler or anything, but it’s too nice to risk body damage & we also tow it behind our motorhome so we really can’t risk any broken parts because we need it for transportation. I don’t mind getting it dirty, but nothing extreme. The few times I’ve had to “send it” the True Tracks were fine. The best thing is that there’s no air lines, wiring or anything you have to switch on or off.

It’s easy to fix the speedometer. Here’s the chart that will tell you which speedometer drive gear you will need for your gear ratios & tire diameter.

Yes, 10 bucks a quart, and 18% off. I buy this not for my jeep but my flat-tappet engine in my 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo.

Gotcha! That's the stuff I primarily like to use on my jeep at a interval of 2500-3k Miles. With the engine work I've done,I'd rather have a zinc rich oil to be on "the safe side" (makes me feel better😶,Keeps my valvetrain happy, all the 4.0s in these jeeps are flat tappet engines too! Some people don't know that)

That only works for the '97-02 TJ's. The '03+ ones have an electronic speedometer sensor in the t-case output. And there are SYE's that eliminate the gear too.

I thought this doesn't work with a SYE? It's been so long since I did mine I can't remember if there is still a gear in there
Only the super slim SYE's eliminate the gear in the '97-02.

I used to run shell rotella "diesel oil" 10w-30. I remember walking up to the counter with my 10 qts and the autozone guy goes "what kinda diesel do you have?" I said "I don't, I'm changing oil in my jeep". His eyes got real big and he goes "this is diesel oil!".
