This isn't really doing anything, but I decided to keep it! Here's the story. I have a CJ that I have been playing with for 3+ years doing stuff like windshield, seats, top, tires, paint, golly tons of stuff. Anyhow, I really only use it for going on jeeping trips to the mountains, been on a Jamboree with it and a local club event near our hometown. It is something that my and I really enjoy the hobby together! (and it helps me justify upgrades!)

I bought my first TJ, an '04 Rubicon, back in the summer and made it my daily duty vehicle on the farm. I really enjoy driving it. It is by far a lot more refined of a vehicle than the CJ. I began thinking I don't need two jeeps, I'll sell the TJ and put the money into the CJ. I didn't do anything right away about. However I began making a list of all the upgrades I still wanted to do..... fuel injection, rear disk brakes, lower transfer case gearing and so on. Then it hit me, why do all that when the TJ already has all of those features built in!

So, I'm selling the CJ and making my wish list for the TJ! The first thing it needs is a lift! It is stock height and looks like a sled to me, even with the 16" 265/75's. I plan on making it my fun vehicle and not a daily ride but will definitely drive it more frequently than the CJ. I been trolling the forum for info on lifts and really appreciate the wisdom that has been shared. This is a great and very informative place to learn about the TJ, thanks!

Excellent choice and welcome to the forum! What size lift were you thinking?

I agree, good choice. I've had the CJ and have the TJ. :)

I’ve run my 33x12.5’s at 23. I sure liked the ride. What I’ve found with the Rancho 5000x shocks is they provide a good ride on a choppy paved road until about 35-40mph, then it gets worse. With the tire pressure down though, it’s much better
I think that my next shock change is leaning towards the adjustable Ranchos or some Fox shocks. I have been shock hopping(currently on JKs - too soft) and am not satisfied as of yet..... I'm interested to see what 25# is going to feel like. Doing an alignment check tonight and then I'll take her for a spin to see how the new pressure rides

Report back. I'd also consider dropping to 23, 24, 25, just to see the difference.

I haven't did the chalk test yet but these tires are new so it's pretty easy to see where contact has been made. My Jeep is super light so I'll be amazed if my contact patch widens any. I'll post back after my drive.

Installed my new Rancho rs5000x shocks, and got a free 1/16” of lift! Woohoo! Pulled the Quadratec Hydro 7.0 off the PO had on that needless to say didn’t ride well.
Even with a hardware package missing on one of the fronts. Good thing I save that kind of stuff. Dug through my pile o crap drawer in my workbench and found exactly what I needed. Who knows where it came from.
Test ride tomorrow enroute to the range with my son.
Boomchakalatta, Hooah!

Installed Revolution axles last weekend. When installing the front I noticed nothing seals the axle tube. The axles I took off had a plastic piece that kind of sealed it but not well. So is it normal that the tube is not sealed? What am I missing?

On the front dana 30 (maybe also the 44) the axle seals are inside the dif. The outside are more of dust/dirt shields. As long as the inside was dry/free of oil the seals are fine.

Thanks, but I find it odd that nothing seals the tube from the elements. Nothing is keeping it from filling with mud. Does anyone sell some kind of boot? This is really irritating me.
