What did you do to your TJ today?

Took a couple days off to get some work done before my trip to Moab in May.

Cycled the suspension to make sure everything was clear. I had previously screwed up and put the bolt in my truck bar backwards, which then hit my fuel line and broke the plastic connector.

Ran the wiring harness to use when towing. Now I can just use the Jeep lights when towing instead of temporary magnetic ones.

Installed a chromemoly shaft in the rear. I had previously replaced the passenger side one because the OEM one was slightly bent. I was lazy and never did the driver side.

Installed a TeraFlex thumb throttle

Got the Midland GMRS setup with proper privacy codes

Some other stuff too probably.

Cool.

New RMS, Melling oil pump and oil pan gasket. To make removal and re-installation easier, I cut the down pipe and used a Walker 35630 2.5" OD butt joint band clamp.

Also discovered a leaking front pinion seal, so a new seal, crush sleeve, and pinion nut went on.

Is that a double BL?

Body mount with a Savvy BL. The welds you see above the BL is where the previous JKS BL bolt rusted and broke off so I welded in a nut on a washer after dremeling out the rusted bolt/channel threaded section. Still need to clean up the welds there so it'll sit flusher with the BL.

Those JKS BLs really do mess up the body something fierce... Compressed the body channel, causing that repair I'm working to fix. I have the same damage as others in the tub under the seats where the bolts dented the tub bc the JKS lifts compress so much...

Gave my project bitch a quick hone to get them cleaned up and ready for pistons. I ordered a digital scale so I can check the weights of my pistons with rods attached. Hopefully this weekend I’ll have them in and the rod bearing clearances checked. It’s been a long slow process but I have really enjoyed learning about rebuilding engines.

Love the ‘can do’ attitude… so when are you expecting a call from NASCAR or NASA 😉 ?
