What did you do to your TJ today?

Lubed all the fittings, installed oil pan / transmission skid plate, and installed a GMRS radio and antenna today. Full day but productive. For power for the radio I piggybacked off the fuse for the 12 volt power port. Figured the unit came with a plug to plug into it so figured this would be safe, I seldom use the power port anyways. I also tried out the York air compressor for the first time. From 15psi to 35psi in just over a minute, not too bad.

Are you happy with the reception with the antenna mounted there? How did you ground the antenna mount?

Since I just installed it hard to say. I had my son use his to test it and make sure everything worked and that was fine. I think I’m missing something on grounding these ghost antennas. I just mount them to a bracket and haven’t had any issue. I have them installed on two JK’s and they work fine. Maybe if I ran a dedicated ground I’d get better reception? On our JK’s I have the antenna mounted as high as the hardtop. I went with this style to see how well it works and I may switch it to the 6db antenna.

Drove it.

Not today but this weekend:

Finalized installation of cruise control on my daughter's 2004 Wrangler

Installed GMRS radio in my 1998 Wrangler.

Installed rebuilt mopar power steering pump (I rebuilt it with a Gates bearing and seal kit) in my son's 2003 Wrangler.

No photos as I was too busy doing the work.

Is that a Rostra cruise control?

Was hot enough to melt the balls off a brass monkey this weekend, so not too much...but I decided to remove the step bars on a whim early yesterday morning to see how she looked. I don't have an issue with them on but I also don't make use of them, I'm 6'5" and step in and out directly. I think I like it better without them, doesn't look as bottom heavy...and I swear it felt lighter on the highway today... :D
