What did you do to your TJ today?

Catching up on some things on my to do list. Warn rear bumper braces, wired up led third break lights (taped for now trying to decide where to put them), and flange exhaust repair

Does your spare tire mount block those empty lug nut holes? If so you might be able to drill a couple holes in it to allow the lights to fit through. I don’t have the factory tire carrier, but here’s what I did with those same kind of lights.

Cut up and rewelded a standard TJ winch plate and drilled it to take the JK M8274 mount. Winch goes on tomorrow... Finally!

Today I gots few coats of paint on the plate, got the JK plate on it and got the winch mounted. Then I got it on the Jeep, got everything wired with new cables and got the synthetic line spooled (though I will have to respool).

It’s ridiculous. It’s excessive. But I’ve always wanted one, so it’s perfect.

Today I attempted to bleed the slave cylinder system and realized my set up is missing the bleeder screw. I am now searching through some forums to find the part. Mine does have the threading for the bleeder screw shown in this video. Mine is definitely not the OEM one which is sealed from factory. This is a fun rabbit hole I have found myself falling into.

This is the part I am now looking for:

Got my double adjustable metalcloak arms in today. Setup and install was easy aside from the siezed cam bolts. Thankfully purchased all new hardware. Shocked at the flex of these things... don't feel like I am going to swerve off the road anymore on the highway. Also excited to try these out on the trail in the next few weeks. Also changed oil, tcase and manual trans fluids.

Oh but your covering up that beautiful chrome grill... still looks bad to the bone tho ;)

Removed the exhaust and intake manifolds this morning. Was worried I was going to have to evac the a/c system. Just enough room to get the intake out without disturbing the lines running into the compressor. Replaced the manifold bolts (rust had thinned them a bit) and gasket this evening.

Man this (3 day) weekend went by fast!

Found the stupid rattle that's been haunting me to two weeks now. PSA check your battery mounts folks. The upper two studs where the bracket mounts underneath the tray on mine had cracked the body metal on the firewall and created a random rattle from hell. Booger welded it back together and and cooking up plans to brace the bracket to the inner fender well. Pictures of welds intentionally omitted.

Wrapped up a couple projects today... So, last weekend we removed the top, seats, instrument panel, center console, a-pillar trim, and factory carpet in anticipation of some new goodies. This weekend we installed a BedRug, Rough County 1.25" seat risers, Bartact seat covers, GraBars, wired and installed the Garmin GPS, wired and installed the Cobra 75 WX ST, external speaker and antenna, threw on a new Bestop Supertop NX and upper door skins, added a Teraflex hand throttle, and while I was at it replaced the CCV valves and grommets.

Still contemplating exactly what I'm going to to do with the tailgate/spare tire, so at this point a piece of aluminum will have to do for now... With the low hanging fruit wrapped up I guess it's time to make up my mind regarding the transfer case and armor situation.
