What does the Trail Rated badge mean? The Jeep website mentions electrical connections to be sealed against water intrusion, etc. but is this a sales gimmick or something worth while?
The badge started appearing in 2004. It's a mostly a sales gimmick. All Wranglers and many other Jeep vehicles since then got one.
Literally nothing but a brilliant marketing gimmick, that's it.
I thought the Trail Rated badge only went on models that made it through the Rubicon trail?
What does that tell you about the Rubicon Trail?
That it's a sales gimmick?
Here you go. Participation trophies for everyone!

Exactly. "Trail Rated." Just like the "Rubicon" is, well, only for the "Rubicon." Why is this even a question...The Trail Rated badge means you can drive your rig on trails.

Well damn. Guess I’ll keep mine at the mall then.
