What does TJ stand for?

My buddy has a JK. I just tell him he is forgetting the vowels of O and E, making his a JOKE!!! he usually says, Barbie still wants her jeep back. Then I remind him that my other Jeep is the Original jeep and he shuts up. My other Jeep is a 48 Willys.

Talk about resurrecting a thread! WOW, 2016!

TJ was a simple designation from the factory. It's not an acronym.

I named my newest cat. TJ
Rescued from the culvert under the driveway.
Easy to spell.

Now i have two TJs.

Now there is another stray in the backyard by the other culvert.
I call him 'Alley'. Not expecting any more cats right now.

My research one time lead to the discovery of "Trendy Jeep". I guess the addition of air bags made it one with the times.
LJ is for sure "Long Jeep".

If it could have had a designation what do guys think it should have been?

Do you think there should have been a number attached like the CJ -5,7 etc.

Did you guys like the name Wrangler? I wasn’t, but lord it stuck.

If not TJ what would you guys have called it?

I like the Rubicon designation, I think that was a good name for that model.

Renegades were really popular In the south in the 80’s.

Not here. At best, its kinda "dumb". I don't detest it, but I could do without it. Its a "Jeep".
Wrangler pants werent cowboy cool in 87, I guess to me it was that and a departure from a model name that looked like an apartment number. Marketing wise CJ had a masculine feel.
