Beavis hit my prize egg LJR -

He went under me.

Initially I got a little riled up but everybody is OK and maybe the kid learned a lesson.

Did the wheels fall off?

What, no video?

Glad everyone is ok.

No harm no foul.

Wheels still on....Which is kind of amazing because I have had wheels just fall off mysteriously 😆

Tore my hitch cover retainer strap.

His parents came.

I just leveled with them-

“ Look son you need to slow down-

I told his parents I’ve got a business and I don’t want anybody taking advantage of me and I’m not going to take advantage of this. Unless something happens like my fuel pump goes out in 30 minutes I don’t see any cause for alarm.

He’s young and he doesn’t need high insurance rates and a good driving record can be important to getting a job.”

I got his personal information and an image of his tag and I sent him and my agent a joint email explaining what happened and that there was no intention to file a claim as of right now and I made it clear that we were certainly not going to be the recipient of a claim- People will turn these things around on you unscrupulously.

I did tell him if it had been somebody on a motorcycle it could have been life-changing-

I did ask him if he was on his phone just to point out the possibility.

No damage to your frame?

Wife got re-ended in a Cherokee (A new one not an XJ) a few years ago by a Mini Cooper.. they totaled it because the hitch bent the frame. I know it’s not the same, but it was crazy how little impact could do so much damage.

What did he say?

He said what they all say “ Oh No.”

it’s like my construction guys- in 20 plus years no one has ever made a mistake- cords cut themselves (and fix themselves) , windows just break, chandeliers break themselves, on and on.

Like Monday excuses.

My wife said “is it a good excuse?”

Uh, never heard a bad one babe.

They had all weekend to smoke pot and make it up.

No, the tall tires and his braking nose dive put him under the frame - the bumper just caught the hood and it wadded up.

A stock TJ could get totaled under similar circumstances.

I’m glad he missed my diff and didn’t shove the drive shaft into the transfer case.

It's crazy. You so much as have a light bulb needing replaced on a TJ and the insurance would rather total it. I think the approach was a good one being as the insurance companies can't wait to get a TJ into a scrap yard.

That kid is the luckiest unlucky SOB on earth he ran into you and not 99 out of 100 other people. That's a solid move you did for him. Hopefully the accident alone was enough to scare him straight.

I handled it the best I could. I have 2 rambunctious sons.

I’m not gonna fake the “its just material stuff” card either.

This is a 2005 LJR with 59,000 miles and the best built streetable rock crawler I have ever seen. You can hardly stick a magnet under it, it has so much aluminum. Blaine Johnson said it ranked in the top 5 he had ever driven. Like any well built Rubi it will crawl over a 4’ sheer rock face like a speed bump.

I bought it from someone I really respect and that means a lot too.

I am crazy about this Jeep.

I’ll likely never have one that comes close. It is special to me and I don’t want it messed up out of someones’s negligence.

Glad everyone is safe and sounds like the LJ will be fixed pristine. I’m sure you will, but check and double check everything.

Glad everyone is okay, and you handled it very nicely.

I think about my LJR getting in an accident and think “Oh no” just not too many great ones out there. Of course I taking it jeeping and who knows what would happen. A guy in our club just rolled his LJ on the Rubicon a couple weeks ago. It ended up upright and started back up. A lot of body damage to it.

So far its a hitch cover and bumper touch up- but I’ll watch it close.

Rolling really scuffs them up-

Man I saw it coming in real time - I just happened to look up and it was like slo mo in my rear view mirror- I knew he had no chance of stopping in time-

I was upset before he hit me - kid you not. I was like nooo, not my LJR !!!!!

I got out of the jeep irritated. Just sick.

I knew the kid was ok, I was way more concerned about the LJ.

Probably like when my 8 year old wrecked his dirt bike once....I went past him and checked on the bike 🙃

Man, that sucks. Happy to hear the damage was minimal.

I have been rear ended 3 times now fully stopped, sitting at a red light. It really sucks when you see it coming, but can do nothing about it

That would be me too! My 17 old daughter wants to know why she can’t drive it very often. I saw “younger people are more prone to accidents”. Point proven, she pulled out of her parking spot at school and turned too soon and ripped the front bumper off the car adjacent to her in my JKUR. Now she says anything and just reply “what about the parked car you hit?” She doesn’t have too much to say after that 😂.

There is a big push to get all the older vehicles off the road. That wat you can take your $4,000 check and buy a new EV.

Couple of years ago someone sideswiped my LJ on 35s in the middle of the night, while it was parked.

I had some rubber marks on my rims and some paint damage on my slider.

There was a bunch of plastic and a quarter of a bumper cover on the street. I think I came out ahead.
