I feel almost apologetic to post this... I know we have the sticky...but the headlight market seems to be evolving so fast and when I look online my brain just melts.

Would it be possible to categorize aftermarket headlights this way for me...

What is a truly significant upgrade from stock with a stock appearance for under $150.... The combination of bulbs and housings is endless... And many housings are not made for the power of an LED and you end up with cut off issues or simply too much light or other things I think

What is the best value around 150-$300

What is the best light....period

I like the idea of a housing that looks stock and being able to run into the parts store and get a bulb...

And I don't mind going clear..

I'm also confused about the advantages of polycarbonate versus glass.

Thanks I know I've started a similar thread before but I'm trying to break it down a little bit... I don't want to overthink it.

I know I don't want anything garish or it looks like it's all black or a flies eyes... and I would like to see significantly better output than stock.

I bought these 3 years ago; one of the first things I did to the TJ. Couldn't be happier. Exponentially better than OEM, crisp beam, OEM-ish look, direct bolt on and affordable.

I bought the Hella e-codes that @LONGJP2 posted a few years ago. I put some Philips X-treme Vision +130% bulbs in them and they were a good improvement over the stock sealed beam lights.

I‘ve since put some Beamtech LED’s in the e-code housings. Wasn’t sure how well they would work in the e-code housings but I’ve been pleased with them. They have been in about 10 months now. Good cut off, no one flashes me. And they weren’t anywhere close to $500+ LOL

I want to thank all of you for posting.

@Hog Said today part of the fear was buying headlights is that you don't know what you're getting until you put them in... And I'm paraphrasing what he said.

The multiple options and not knowing whether to go LED or halogen..... And I'm pretty surprised the stock 6024 light has had such a long long production history doesn't have some more common off the shelf options.... It's amazing how limited it is for something that has covered such a wide range of the automotive market over decades.

it's kind of like the fact that we can put man on the moon but we can't put metal in the microwave.

Part of me doesn't mind spending the money... And I really do think it's sort of a category where you know that you can probably go cheaper and get by if you make the right choice on the cheaper product... Because either one will illuminate the road.... Then you get into the look and design factor.

I ordered some quadratec Gen 2 LEDs....instant dislike the second I opened the box.... Look like something you see on a toy four wheeler.

I went ahead and ordered some cheaper crystal clear glass lenses with some LEDs to go in them... But I realize I'm playing roulette.

I like the variety that you guys have posted and it gives me enough options to find something I'm ok with.... You guys are great.

I've had my WHDZ 7 Inch Round Led Headlights for coming up on 2 years now. In that time one of them lost the seal during an intense snowstorm, very wet snow, last year and got condensation in it. After removing the lens, letting them dry, and resealing the light with RTV I haven't had any issues since. Here is a link to the lights and also a link to the thread that has tons of feedback on them.
