What is the best wheel offset to go with 35X12.5 tires?

Mine has 4" of backspacing.

General rule of thumb is every inch you lift it your wheels need to go out an inch if you lift it 2 inches you wanna go with 1 inch offset…or more, but like you said 3.75 is pretty common…wider the better who wants their tires tucked neatly under their wheel wells and abide the law 😄
You're describing backspacing which is a totally different measurement from offset. They are not different terms for the same dimension. And wider isn't always better, a wider track width can make it more difficult in some tight twisty trails as I always favored. I run 4" of backspacing for my 35x12.50 tires which I favor or 3.75" or less backspacing.

The yellow tape measure is directly measuring the wheel's backspace which is the more useful dimension where Jeep and truck tires are concerned. Offset if more useful for car wheels.

Jerry, will that work if I buy 22s? ;)

Stick with 4.25 if it all fits. Your steering axis inclination is closer to better than those of us with less backspacing.

I might stick with 4.25". I love the current scrub radius. Drives really well. I only rub the SL and tower a bit when articulating off-road, but not worried about it. The sloped profile of the KM3 may help with the current rubbing, but I plan to move away from them back to an STT Pro. Beadlocks would very likely change the backspacing. Coyotes FTW!

I've never seen a Jeep appropriate wheel with 4.25" of BS but that'd be a tad too much for a 12.5" wide tire in my experience.

The whole reason I questioned earlier was because I’d like to find some aluminum wheels to install my coyote beadlocks on my STT pros.

It’s a 4.5” bs Mamba MR1X 15x8 wheel. I added a 0.25” spacer to bring it to 4.25”.

I had originally planned hubs, so with the Mamba’s at 4.5” bs the hubs would have reduced my bs to 3.5”, but I ended up not needing them.

17" JK Moabs with a 2" adapter spacer gets you 4" of backspacing. But that would require 17" Coyotes.

@PNW_LJ

The STT Pro is simply my favorite tire of the four I’ve tried (GY MTR, STT Pros, Maxxis RAZR, KM3).

See below for more information.

too bad we're too far apart to trade, lol. Curious though what your experience has been that drives the plan to go back.

None of the four tires I’ve used have been bad. The MTR was poor in wet onroad conditions. Not available in a 15” anymore anyway. They held up great off-road.

The STT Pro’s were mediocre in snow and ice, but they really excelled and were tough on every other terrain.

The Maxxis Razr’s are still on my sons White Sport. They’re doing fine, but he doesn’t take them off-road much. They chunk a bit more than I like. They’re kind of loud onroad.

The KM3’s are going to get the most mileage, and they do well on all the surfaces. They’re not very attractive to me with the sloped profile, and I have had trouble with the sidewall getting slit and picking up road debris that I’m afraid to remove from one tire.

All this may just be anecdotal, but the STT Pros look good, have a stronger sidewall, air down well, and are not very loud onroad.
