Solid little cars, still have mine. I call it my LJ escape pod. Love it when she shrieks like a banshee! Go carts for adults.

I wish more people kept theirs stock and maintained the hell out of them.
Every time I say this someone seems to have an issue with this and think my standards are too low, but my previous car was a little supercharged Mini that was a canyon carver. I will still say, stock TJs drive NICE. After I replaced a bunch of my front end stuff and other suspension and steering parts, I don't really miss my Mini very often on a twisty road. I feel like that's saying a lot, because before I bought one I was told I'd hate they way they drive.
It's obviously not a modern car and doesn't drive like one. It's not fast and it feels raw. But it's so nice to drive in an old school charming way. I like how everything feels mechanical and the steering isn't lightening fast like every modern car and I even like the character of the 4.0. Every time I travel and have to drive something modern and then get back in my TJ it's just so refreshing. I might get flamed for saying this but I wish more people kept theirs stock and maintained the hell out of them.
stock form my Lj on 31s,3.73s,42Rle it would just not reach over 103 ish and even after messing with the Limit in HP Tuners it doesn't do a thing
After Camming it, Porting the head&intake yadda yadda. It now "easily" reaches 128 on flats but it just doesnt want to go over that and i know the damn thing has the power to reach more but i learned (from what ive read) that the tranny has a hard set governor to cap the jeep at 100 but im guessing i have enough power to kinda push it to 128 and float around that speed cause it just sets itself back to over drive but if i keep stomping the throttle it just throws timing and ramps the RPM up but wham its sets itself back in OD at 3.5k Ish Rpm

That was the main reason I gave my father a 98 i had and bought a beat up 97 to build.
The 98 has been such a nice driving jeep and had not one issue in the last 10 or so years. I wanted something we could both use hunting and he doesn't like the idea of owning a lifted anything.
Though I will say he was really surprised how well my jeep on 33's drives once it had been gone through.

Edit- At those speeds my Lj feels great,no wobbles no nothing. It actually feels very light at that speed but its still a Toaster on wheels pushing through the air It gets driven at around 90 Mph daily in freeflowing traffic so its nothing new for me and the jeep.
I absolutely loved mine. It was so fun to drive and sounded awesome. Upkeep just became a lot after I passed 100k and it just didn't make sense for me to keep pouring money into it. I would turn the wrenches myself too but man, something would go wrong every month I swear. I do really miss mine though. So many memories in that little car.
Yeah you're right!! Mines are rated Up to 112, Realistically they only see higher speeds for about 30 seconds when im clearLook up your tires speed rating. I doubt any of the truck tires we run are rated for much.
Things went wrong with mine, of course, it's a man-made consumer vehicle. But she never left me sitting stranded somewhere. My bung was a bit puckered when I purchased her as I knew I was going to be doing all of the service work myself. Having said that, with exception to a few items, the car is very well designed and fairly easy to work on.
I don't want to jinx myself by saying this but yes, my stock TJ has honestly been the most dependable car in my family.
Holy hell what?!? I almost don't believe you. That's really fast for any Jeep! I know my governor kicks in somewhere around 113... don't ask me how I know that though
But yeah I'm sure you have but see what your tires are rated for. I think even the ones on my TJ right now which are all seasons are only rated to 118, something like that.
Ya lit the wick now!
*Dramatic Pastor voice*I don't want to jinx myself by saying this but yes, my stock TJ has honestly been the most dependable car in my family. It's been the cheapest to maintain even compared to the Hondas and Toyotas they've owned. It doesn't really ask for anything from me. I'm sure if I started modding it though that would quickly change.
my harmonic balancer flew apart on me
Dang, that’s efficient!Mine has been above 90mpg

The speedometer on all vehicles indicates the engineered speed parameters-
Common sense is what the driver supplies….they hope
