Ok after running around today I noticed a tube hanging out from under the Jeep.
After looking at sit some are dating it is a vacuum line to the transfer case others are saying it is a breather tube for the tranny.
It has a small metal bracket so it came loose from somewhere.
Any ideas?

That's the breather vent for the differential. Each diff should have one.

It is definitely the differential breather, it needs to be as high as it can go. The rear one usually goes up behind the tail light. The front up near the radiator cap. Now that I see it, Mr. Blaine is correct...t-case vent.

It looks like the transfer case breather. One of the upper bell housing bolts is supposed to go through that bracket that secures the breather. Has the transmission been removed recently?

If it connects to the transfer case it's its vent hose which is routed up the middle of the firewall and secured. Its tip/vent opening should be positioned near the top of the firewall. There is no vacuum hose connected to the transfer case or transmission.

That’s what I noticed...it’s not secured.
