I just got a 2000 TJ and I am swapping out the fender flares for wider ones. The previous owner had replaced them a year or so before I bought it. They were easy enough to take off but upon doing so it looks like they drilled the nutserts out but didn't replace them. They instead drilled a couple of new holes in the body to screw it on. Since they aren't there I have no idea if they widened the holes out and was wondering if someone knew what size hole the standard nutserts went into. I can't seem to find that spec anywhere I look and I would prefer to use the standard mounting holes instead of drilling new ones in the flares to try and match them up.

Guess you could kind of work backwards. You could measure the diameter of the holes in question and find an insert based on the hole size. And then compare whatever size insert fits the hole bolt size with the factory bolt size.

The standard nutserts fit in a hexagonal hole so if yours is round then I don't think the standard ones would fit very well.
Thanks for the replies, I figured the originals wouldn't work but looks like what they drilled out is definitely larger than 6mm, Honestly I was really only concerned with the one on the bottom front of the rear fender. All of the others I think I can reach up into the body to put a nut on.
