What type of coolant should I use for my TJ?

The type of coolant isn't as important as making sure that you're not mixing different types. Mixing orange and green would be bad. If you do a thorough flush, getting ALL the existing coolant out of it, then fill with whatever you get, you should be fine.
Do you know if that coolant you have is premixed with water? If not ONLY mix it with distilled water.

I don’t know what is in there right now.
I don’t bought anything yet.
The yellow one I can get here, that’s what I always had in my Suzuki samurai.

Wil have a look at the car part shop tomorrow. But I normally get the premixed.

Thanks!

As long as you don't mix them you'll be okay. Good luck.

This is the problem. If there is Yellow in there and you refill with orange or green, it is a concoction. I had this problem when my mechanic put in a new radiator and filled it with orange, and I got a lot of sludge and cast precipitate in my overflow bottle. I immediately had him flush my system, and fill it with Green. The dealership had green initially, and then during a service, they changed it to clear. Again, it turned to gel. I lost a radiator as a result, and changed it back to green. But, it wasn't flushed, and I lost another radiator. My mechanic then changed it to Orange with the new radiator. It started to gel again. I immediately had him flush it, and I brought Green Coolant. Since then, no radiator problems and no more gel in my coolant. If you see sludge or gel in your coolant, it needs to be flushed. Don't just refill. When you drain it, there is still old coolant in your heater core and engine. It needs to all be flushed out. Flush it until it is clear.

I've been using Zerex G05 for years as recommended by this forum. Because it's more expensive I'd like to believe that it does a better job lubricating than cheaper universal "green" coolant. It also seems to have a slightly higher viscosity than the green coolants which further makes me wonder if it lubricates internals better because of this increased viscosity. I might be completely imagining all of this.

Normally I’m exactly like you. Thing is, I can’t get zerex G05 in Europe..

That is weird. It was spec'd for Mercedes and, of course, the Daimler Chrysler vehicles over here.

I've just always used the Zerex Original green in my YJ, and the G05 in the TJ. No issues with either.

Is Zerex G48 available?

Yes, that one I can get.

Hello, I've been browsing these forums for awhile and still cant seem to find what type of coolant I should use.

I have an orange color type in right now so I'm thinking of going with either
Zerex GO5 or prestone - dex-cool 50/50 antifreeze / coolant
But I cant seem to find which one would be better and more suitable for my engine.

Thank you for the help!

Here’s a list of all the recommended fluids & lubricants for your TJ.

Zerex G05 is indeed the correct factory fill for later TJs, but I can't stand how it's almost completely clear and makes it extremely difficult to visually distinguish what fluid it is. When I bought my TJ it had a leaking radiator anyway so I flushed the system and switched to regular green antifreeze.

There's also taste haha.

I don't know if that is actually true or not.

My 1998 TJ came from the factory withe the traditional green coolant, and that is what I continued to use. I flushed it and replaced it about every 5 years or so, and mixed it with distilled water. My original water pump lasted 22 years and about 125K miles.

I gotta wonder wonder what is being lubricated by the coolant? The water pump has a sealed bearing. That's about the only moving part in the cooling system.
