Growing up in the deep south Louisiana in the middle 70’s there were not many jeeps to see in my area. That all changed in the 80’s when my uncle showed up in blue Jeep scrambler. Got to ride in it a few times till he sold it. I was still not old enough to drive but I was hooked. I really didn’t see that many jeeps till I moved to Fairfield Ca in 2004. Had a few friends with TJ’s. That was all I needed to get the Jeep bug.

2008- 2011 Stock green 2001 TJ sport 6 cyl
2011 moved back to Louisiana
2014-2016. 4” lifted white 2005 TJ X 6 cyl
2017-2020 White 2016 Willys 2 door JK
2021-till I die!! 2005 SE 4 cyl

Couldn’t pass up the low price on the one I have now. There are no trails, mountains or really any places to ride around here except mud pits and that ain’t my thing. I get enough thrill over the fact that I have my own Jeep to ride in. Pic of current jeep

Grew up with 2 former military Jeeps and a similar mail Jeep. We started with one, but keeping it running all the time was too much - so we got a second so one would be working. Then keeping parts available, we got a third for parts to try to keep one of the other 2 working. Neither strategy worked well. Basically my main memory is constantly working on them to occasionally get a ride.

I had hoped my LJ would not be like that - and maybe I am over the hump - but the first 18 months seemed like waiting for the next scheduled shop visit.

My first exposure to a Jeep was one my uncle bought when I was 8 or 9. It was also a blue scrambler, oddly enough. He lived in Boyce LA, and my family was living in Cloutierville. We went to their house for dinner one weekend, and he had that bad-ass scrambler under the carport. He saw me all Moon-eyed over it, and took me to the gas station for a fountain drink. I'll never forget going over the Hwy 8 bridge over the Red River in a Jeep with no doors and worn out suspension. That bridge has a significant banked turn at it's apex, and I was scared to death I was going to fall out and into the river. My little 8 year old brain didn't understand physics, but upon getting back to Uncle Chuck's house, I was in love with that beat up old Jeep.

That was about 92 or 93. Glad you posted. Brought back a strong memory this Monday Morning.

Also there's a pretty great offroad park at Sicily Island. Me and my brother go there in his SxS when I'm back home visiting. There's good trails to run there at any skill level, and in anything from stock rigs up to buggies.
