I tend to packed all the electrical connectors with dielectric grease. Keeps the contacts from corroding and makes it somewhat weather proof.
What would you do preemptively to this Jeep for longevity?

I also use some dielectric grease whenever I open a connector. Good call to point that out. For a more permanent rust preventer than Fluid Film you can use any of several brands of cosmoline. It lasts a lot longer between uses, is less wet. It doesn't apply as easy,but ask any military guy (or gal) and they can affirm just how great it is at combating corrosion
