Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What's everyone's gas mileage?

Sorry we only have enough gas to get back to the barracks, if we go back a few miles to help the TJ we will be AWOL!

So Mfg States 15-18 MPG on a I6. Tank Capacity is 19 gallons. That's an average of 304 miles on a full tank. The most I am getting on a full tank is just over 200 miles. What is everyone else getting?

I’m impressed with everybody else’s responses. I am on 33’s and a 4 inch lift and I average 7.3 mpg based on calculations.

There are so many variables.
But normal stock TJ should get about 16-17.
When you put larger tires on, without changing the differential ratio, you could be using more gas to overcome the torque impact.
Plus, you're just carrying and moving more overall weight.
This is especially true with 4 cyl engine, auto transmission pre 2005, and highway gearing in the differential
Manual vs. Automatic
Hard top vs. Rag top (weight)
6 cyl vs. 4 cyl
How much other weight are you carrying
Etc.

16-17 is optimum freeway driving without mods, street tires, and speed less than 65.

The only time I got that low of gas mileage on my 97 was when I had a cracked exhaust header and not everything was making it to the O2 sensor...which was telling the PCM to add gas...fixing that all up gets me 11.5-11.8 pretty consistently.

I just took a trip loaded and pulling my teardrop. 65-70mph, pulling grades and 3K in elevation change. LJR 6sp 4:10 with 32s. No speedo change will the slightly taller tires. I calculated 10.5 mpg. 16mpg running solo on the hwy. I run the tires at 32psi on the hwy.

I hate to post but in my 2003 TJR I was able to get an amazing 26.2 mpg on a round trip from Ft Worth to just short of the Oklahoma line on I 35 W.

How did this happen? Well, I was getting my TJ ready to take to the welder to build my cage. So, I had removed my soft top, completely folded down my windshield, and removed the doors when the phone rang. The company I ordered from said your order is in, and we close at three if you get here, you can pick it up. or pick it up on Monday. I will be there. So I jump in my TJ and head out, then notice I need gas and stop at a shell station at the corner of the access road and I 35W.

I head out and drive about 70+ to get there and I arrive a few min. before them locking the doors. I grab my package and turn around to go home. I take my exit and look at my fuel gauge. I am SHOCKED, it looks the needle has barely moved from a FULL tank and I am a top-off guy. I fill till the fuel is at the lip. I go to the same pump at the shell station and fill it to lip. I had thought to zero out the miles at the station and to see how far it was up and back. Results: 26.2 mpg.

YES, you can get good mpg if you take off the top, and doors and fold down the windshield...

Outside of that most of the time I got around 12's...37s, 4:88s and Walker Evans Beadlocks.

Soft top, no winch, 4.10 gears, and 33s, 65mph...16 to 17 mpg.

Hard top, winch, 4.88 gears, 33s, RSE steps, 65mph...14 to 14.5 mpg...

This same setup, but pulling my Tentrax trailer, at 65pmh... 10.5 to 11mpg

my 06 4.0, 42rle running 33’s with 5.13 gears is doing 12.5 at best no matter how i drive or where i drive. speedo. gear was replaced when regear was done.

really didn’t buy a tj for mpg. got it for smiles per gallon.

if i want mpg plus spg i get on the harley. 47ish mpg is about average for it.

boat doesn’t go far on a gallon of fuel either but, it’s fun.

My last tank with a 4.6l stroker running a comp cam and 10.5:1 compression,4.10/33 and ax15 was 17mpg. It is normally 14-17 depending on my right foot.

Gps confirmed speedo and a calculator at fill up to check mpg's

I agree, but sadly I had to give up my Harley due to Infantrytitist...stems from wearing a rucksack on your back for way too many years.

I sure miss my ride!
