What's everyone's gas mileage?

Pass me an expensive bourbon, we’ll see how many miles down the road that will get me.
Heck yea! :D Tried a new one last night. Technically its a whisky but either way, it is very good. Michters US 1, smooth, bit on the sweeter end, nice caramel nose and finish. About 50 bucks too so not horrible.

4.0, 5 speed manual, 33’s, 4.56. Aftermarket bumpers and winch. About 13 city and a tiny bit better on highway. If I can keep it below 80 that is. On a stretch of pretty flat road and marked for lower speed, I did what looked better but didn’t fill to find out. Normally I’m about 150 before the light comes on, which is about 5 gals left. I drive it for the smiles it gives me, not the miles it gives me. My commute is short and the off-road opportunities are behind our house. Lucky me.

In all honesty I have never determined the gas milage on my 2006 TJ Rubicon. I didn't buy it based upon its gas mileage stats, but on it taking me back into the tough spots in Central Arizona. It has done that in spades and whatever the gas mileage, it's worth it. If I had to guess. I would venture to say it is in the 10 to 13 mpg range. It is NOT my daily driver. I use my 2009 Dodge Ram or 2002 ZO6 Corvette for highway driving.

14-15 mpg with 33", six speed, and 3.73s. Jumps up to 15-16 with the canvas/windows off. I, like you, fill up every 200 miles.

I reset my trip odometer everytime I fill up and check the gas mileage occasionally as a heart monitor to see if it is running ok. I get about 15-16 but I don’t worry about it unless starts getting erratic mileage then I have a heads up. I used to drive a fullsize Bronco and it got around 8 mpg. 15-16 makes me giddy comparatively. The TJ is just too much fun to worry about the gas mileage.

Admittedly I haven't had a chance to try that yet, but I may just throw those away if I can get 2-3 miles more a gallon. hehe

1999 SE on 31's. About 220 - 230 miles on a tank. At 250 I'm looking for gas. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing as long as I keep it under about 65 mph. I've gone about 300 miles on a tank, but that's really pushing it. No buffer or margin for error. (19 gallon tank option)

I'm filling up at around 220-250 miles, and usually put in 15-16 gallons. The light comes on at 50 miles to empty, I think, so with a 19 gallon tank, its about right. MPG wise, its right around 16. I'm running 32" tires, stock drivetrain (4:10 gears and 5 speed)

Vehicles typically get the best mpg with the tops up and all windows closed. Smoother airflow and less turbulence.

That seems like conflicting information. Since I am not getting rid of my TJ, I will just not have to worry about 1-2 miles per gallon. Plus half the time I steal gas from my neighbor anyway. I bet he thinks his Toyota gets really bad gas mileage.

Surely you're joking, Jerry, when it comes to our Jeeps! It's a box on wheels - there's probably a mini tornado vortex sittin' right behind the rear of the vehicle goin' down the road! :D :D :D

My 2004 TJ has the 4.0L - not sure what on the gearing (something I plan to find out soon, as I'd like to find a compatible Dana 44 rear), hardtop, and automatic (ugh - but I don't know stick, unfortunately). I track my mileage for every fuel up, and it's mostly a daily driver to and from work, with little freeway time.

My average over the last few months has been 12.7 mpg. That's worse than my VehiCROSS (14.2 mpg - but it only gets driven once or twice a week), worse than my C1500 I had before the TJ (averaged around 16 mpg), and it's approaching what I was getting on my old 79 Bronco with the 400M V8 (10-11 mpg - on good days).

But I didn't buy my Jeep for fuel economy - I bought it for fun and "smiles per gallon"...!

/also doing my part to widen my family's carbon footprint...

I can get 19 on the highway and around town I would say about 10 to 13. I would say the odd thing is that I would fill up and one trip from work and back burns a quarter of a tank, then it halves that until I fill up. I blame the fuel pump.

Blame the inaccurate fuel gauge sender not the fuel pump. :)

I had a '73 Chevy Cheyenne Super, 400, 4 speed. 1 ton running gear and chassis. 7-8 mpg consistently loaded or empty. The TJ gets great mileage!
