What’s the going rate on a hard top.

Going to sell my daughters but don’t know where to start in price.

Don’t want to get rich on it but don’t want to get beat up either.

Thanks in advance.

Here’s the hard top for sale

I would estimate anywhere from $800 - $1,200. It depends on the condition. Because it looks good From the picture, I would start at $1,200 and accept a little less for it.

This is one of those items where location matters a bit, being he is in south florida $1200 is a bit high imo. $1000.00 is a fair asking price but I'd take $700-$900 for it (On the higher end if it has a wiper/rear defrost. It looks like you found her a real nice TJ, well done.

You are absolutely correct in that location matters. But see the attached craigslist links. Ranges are $750 - $1,750. The prices had a much higher spread than I've seen in the past. Normally a top in the $1,700 range would have been an LJ hard top. the two highest listings were $1,750 and $1,400. A few others in the $900 - $1,000 range. The $750 top is missing a rear window. Either people are pricing them for the condition they are in (cracked or missing pieces) or pristine.

Jeep looks awesome! Good work. Check going rate, but I’d ask $1100-1200 and take 1000 for it.

Hope she loves it! Awesome Christmas present!

Does it have a crack behind the front door, about 2/3 up the door window frame?

Again, awesome Christmas present. My daughter would flip out! I like the pinstripe on this one. I’m a fan of hardtops so I like it too! Wouldn’t change a thing. But I know, she probably has no easy way to remove it. As long as you can get what you’ll spend for the Bestop, you’ll be happy I’m sure!

I've bought two TJ hard tops, both came with rear defrost/wiper and rear vents. One was black, the other tan. I paid $800.00 for the black hardtop and I paid $800.00 for the tan hard top although it came with a free tan bestop trail cover and kc fog lights. By selling the later I was able to recoup nearly $150.00. One of mine was purchased in Georgia, the other in Tennessee. The only time in the world I could see it being $1k is if its winter and someone really needed a top. The $1k-1.6k range is really LJ hardtop territory. The market is heavily saturated with TJ hardtops and being in Florida, it doesn't help your case. With the right seller you could find a $1k hardtop buyer, but if you want this thing gone and want to put the money towards a hardtop asap then you have to price it lower. Best of luck to you!

No the 97-02 TJ hardtops came with that from Chrysler.

Winter time that is more than $1500 in Chicago.
Summer time it will go down to $850.

In a states with related military compounds, that is always more than $1,000.

I paid $1200 for my hard top here in the PNW and it needed repainting. They are expensive and hard to find up here though. This is one of those regions where you really want a hard top, hence the higher price.

Are you talking about the vents? I have the 97-02 hardtop and know about the vents. What I’m saying, probably not too well, is look closely at the OP’s pic, right behind the door there looks like a crack in the hardtop. It’s right behind where the daughters first antler breaks off the main beam. LOL

Here is a picture of my hard top, I believe we are talking about the same separation in the hardtop, right?
