I thought it was just stuck in a river, sank, then recovered after the water level went down.

Judging by his helmet.. he probably parked the jeep in a wash and went biking for a bit.

Came back and a flash flood came thru. Flash floods are a danger in the south west.

I guess the dam in the background may of released some water to lower the levels.

I read thru the link, sounds like the steering and brakes still worked! From what I understand though they pulled it into a parking lot where it sat for some time more and was picked thru.

That kind of river crossing I would never even attempt.
