Fire814, I sent you a pm, but for those watching this thread the answer is I can only guess it was a sticking sensor or wiring gremlin. It fixed itself after running the t/case through gears several times and has not returned.
Where is the switch that controls the 4WD light?

I'm not finding it easy to get to. I've tried reaching over the TC from under the Jeep and couldn't find it, (with a very good light). I've also read where you can open up the Transmission tunnel cover under the shift lever from inside the Jeep, but that worries me that I'll mess something up. What is your suggestion? Thank you.
