Hi. Have whining sound. Whining at idle in neutral with clutch in or out. Whines in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, stops in 4th & 5th. ( stick5 speed). Thinking throw out bering??? Higher rpm higher whine. Help , thx . Jer.

If you can hear the whine in neutral it should be easier to troubleshoot. pop the hood and listen at the front accessory drive. Could be a power steering pump, alternator, AC compressor, idler bearing, tensioner...

If its the throw out bearing you probably will hear it louder from underneath the jeep near the bell housing.

you could take the serpentine belt off and run it for a short while to see if the whine goes away.

Throw out bearing would only whine with the clutch pushed in right? Seems like it might be something else if you can hear it in neutral. With the RPM relation, I would check out the pulleys and power steering pump fluid level. My PS pumps have tended to whine before they go out all together.
