Why is it so hard to give Jeep folks money?

Yes good hard working work ethics are getting harder to find. As for the fence, my wife and I did another 620' of field fencing with two corners and one gate. Then we took down about another 400' of old wood fencing that was all 6" in diameter wood posts every 8' with 4 wood runners between the posts. Was easier to just do it our selves.

I arrived at the same conclusion and we did the last 200' ourselves. The 200ish across the back took wood splitter guy 4 weeks to get it done. I had Ismael dig the post holes in a day, helped him set the posts the next day, we ran all the fence and were done the third day. I just don't like doing it.

I also wasn't clear, wood splitter guy bought no materials, just labor.

It is getting better. Someone asked about where to get an engine. SG was mentioned. I replied that as long as you understand it isn't his day job and he'll ship parts when he gets around to it, go ahead and do business with him. Took about 2 minutes for SG to jump in and say I was over exaggerating and running my mouth.
I think a call to his CO might put him on the straight and narrow (hopefully).

Hell... I know if that happened to me during my time in the Army, it would have done the same for me.

I've contacted this guy before about Jeep parts. Most of his parts are shit and he always says they're in good condition. My friend drive 2 hours to look at a "great" condition frame that was rotting....

As for the fender picture. It was offset from the side and the entire fender wasn't even in view....
I'm so familiar with this bullshit.

Having to pester someone about a part you're interested in, and all you want is some damn photos. Yet they continue to give you this short, vague little responses. It's almost as if they don't want to sell the part to begin with. I mean money, who in the hell would want money, right?

I've been dealing with this shit a lot lately, and it grinds my gears possibly more than anything.

Like I said earlier, some people simply shouldn't be running a business.

Since I've "run my mouth" as he put it, I've had several conversations with folks including a couple of shops and apparently I'm not an isolated incident. They all say just about the same exact things about him. No communication, bizarre business practices, and a fair bit of a flake. We are all fairly astounded that he is recommended so highly and so often.

Guys , I own a construction business.

The calvary isn't coming .

We have told our brightest young minds for 40 years to " go to college and make something of yourself " and now mostly all we have is dopeheads to work on our houses.

If President Trump's is gonna build a wall , he's gonna need to hire some Mexicans , because you won't see many Americans laying block at all , let alone in the hot sun.

By the way , its bound to work- China has a wall and they hardly have any Mexicans getting in.

Had a bedroom window that needed to be replaced. We’d used a guy a couple years before and that went pretty well so we called him again. He sent some guys out to measure the window. After many phone calls and 6 months they call and have the window. They come out and install it. I’m doing stuff and just checking on them periodically. They’re about done and I walk in the room and the new window is 50:50 whereas the window on the other side of the bed is 40:60. I point out the obvious, it looks like hell. They leave the bill and say they’ll tell the boss, so we call because that’s the only way to get things done. He then tells us they only make 50:50 aluminum windows and tries to upsale us another matching window (not even considering I have about 8 more 40:60 windows in the house). He wants another $500+ for this window. So I’m pissed, o go to the window, figure out its Millgard, go on the website, and call. I ask, do you make 40:60 aluminum windows? Yes, we make to spec. So I call the guy back and tell him. He calls Millgard himself and is shocked. He replaced my window with the right one. How is it these people don’t even know their products? And customers like me have to do the research and fill them in? Idiots

I will let you guys in on a secret... The most important jobs in the construction business can be small jobs...

They allow you to reach more people

There is less overhead

You finish faster and get your money

There is less liability and lower cost

And guess what...some people are testing you to see if you are reliable and trustworthy because they are considering a larger job but they want to see how you perform.

I built my business doing small work and I still do small work in order to generate leads and keep customers.

We also do midsize and larger-scale remodel projects... And they can be very rewarding but most of the time you're taking that customer out of the market.

You have to know your limitations and you can't do everything for everybody... And you never promise anybody anything you can't do... But people will be absolutely ecstatic if you come out and fix a small problem and you might do hundreds of thousands of dollars of work for someone that is just fantastic and basically they expected it to be fantastic they just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars.
