Why is there no cargo light in TJs?

Thanks for the link. I was thinking something similar but running the wires along the same path as the 3rd brake light wires and use a pin switch in the same location instead of installing it in the door jam.

Agreed on the routing. A much better OEM like switch and implementation could be done. (Opinion)

What about the ground? would you tap it to the green/yellow wire from the front door switch?

Is it only the 03-06 models?

I don’t know but mine doesn’t have one and isn’t necessarily “missing” one either as I know some did come with it. I was looking at the JK dome light for mine actually not to long ago. I’d do something that tied into the doors and maybe a switch at the tailgate

A buddy with a JK has a pretty sweet light strip that goes on the hardtop glass. I think they make them for the TJ also.

No, I have a 2000 Sahara with factory hardtop and it has a rear cargo light.

Same with my 2000 Sport.

They stopped adding the cargo light to hardtops in 01.

I went the cheap and easy route. Got the idea from another member here, but can't remember who. I have one on the roll bar just behind the front seats and another one on the drivers side roll bar in the cargo area, no picture of it though. Velcro One Wrap (I think) holding them on. You can rotate it in that little plastic holder thing so you can point it where you want.

Magnetic super bright LED light switch, batteries will last years! This light is super bright it lights up the tub top to bottom even with the tailgate almost at right angles, I bought 4 of them $3 each inc batteries, they also have Velcro pads on the back as well as magnets.

Why would Jeep not put some sort of cargo light in the rear of these things? It's a pain to have to walk around, unlock the front door and turn on the pod lights to be able to grab your crap out of the back.
Has anyone found a solution that doesn't look like something from a lite night infomercial?
