Butt crack elimination mod/rear frame raise is also a pro for lj's especially for improving departure angle.

Raising body mounts themselves up being another pro in the never ending quest to reduce hangy downy things.

Butt crack elimination may not be worth the work depending on what fuel tank you are running, thinking of you Genright.

2x hub height from the ground is the effective rolling diameter to be used for things like speedometer corrections.

This can be verified by recording the Jeep's GPS speed at a specific engine RPM, going to a gear calculator like GrimmJeeper, and adjusting the tire diameter until the GPS speed and engine rpm you recorded earlier match.

The two tire diameters will match.

Prior to that, I was making fun of those who search for a true XX" tire.

That measures your tire rolling diameter. It doesn’t establish the 35” MTR “true size” which is what the gif was aimed at in the context.

The "true size" is irrelevant. Care more about performance than a slight discrepancy in what the sidewall says.

Exactly. Your comment came across as if it established a “true size” for the mtr, which is what my gif made fun of.

Since this train has already derailed.....

I do find it funny we can care so much about a 1/8" in some places but when it comes to tire size it's irrelevant.

Also interesting to me is the little talk about diff clearance. If all TJ axles (when upgraded) are equally capable of running 35s, why aren’t we all switching to HP30s and Dana35s for the added ground clearance.

Autos that need 5.38 make sense to me. I'm not sure why a hp30 wouldn't be better with anything 5.13 or under though. Not knowing why makes me feel like that would have been a better direction for me personally.

I would agree.

I suppose it conflicts with the philosophy of only “solving a problem you actually have”,

But if I’m spending 3 grand building up a stock LP30; getting more driveshaft clearance, stronger R&P, and better resale value, for less than the cost of a diff fluid change, is a no brainer to me.

That would be a 2.5" larger tire w/ 1.25" body lift. Twice as good.

Really rolling now. I supposed y’all understood how tire diameter works. Did I assume too much? Yes, 1.25” on one side of the tire, aka radius. Duh

You'll catch up eventually! 🤣

This is the second time in this thread that what I read was later said to be the opposite of what I read. 🤦‍♂️
