Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

As an after thought I figured I should check the oil and make sure it wasn't diluted again with fuel since I am having injector issues.

At this point I'm not sure I would trust the guage on the dash. That said, I never have trusted any factory oil pressure guage...
Also the 360 in our GW has mild build and for what it's worth it runs pretty low pressure at idle too. It has since the day it was installed. It jumps right up off of idle though. We did install a manual guage and it does run a touch below 10psi at Idle when warmed up.

Edit: After talking to the old man, he told me the paperwork that came with the 360 stated that low pressure at idle was completely normal.

I'm done for the day but tomorrow I'll get the mechanical gauge hooked up and see what it does. I've also been wondering about fuel pressure. I've got to look at my gauge and see how long the hose is. I'd like to take it out and drive it while watching the gauge just to see what it is.

But I'm still going back to when I was pulling that damn 6 pack intake 20,000 times I had GOOD oil pressure. Then some where along the way I lost that good oil pressure. So what could I have FUCKED up to make it lose oil pressure? There isn't anything I can think of. And now it's smoking a LOT too. I just have this feeling in the pits of my stomach that when it was running so lean due to that vacuum leak that it messed up the engine somehow.

I don't know WTF I'll do if I have to pull that engine. Hell I might just say FUCK it and GOD FORBID put a LS in it.... 🤪 🤪;)

Fuck that nonsense.... If I was to do anything I'd swap in a Hemi. I'd burn the Jeep to the ground prior to ever even let a LS get close to my Jeep.

LSDS

OK if you say so....

I could just throw a CC at it and buy a 408 long block.

To be fair, you never took it out and drove it when you had the other intake on it. Warming it up to operating temp isn't the same as driving it.

Maybe next time you fire it up cold (you have a stethoscope right?) crawl underneath and take a listen in multiple spots around the pan. Then after it warms up and the pressure drops listen in those same spots again. If you're not hearing a difference I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like I said the 360 in the GW has been running the same way for going on 20 years.

I'd still like to put the mechanical gauge on it and see what is really happening...

I've toyed with putting the 6 pack back on it just to see how it runs. Who knows it might just Shit & Get with it on there.

It's a good rule of thumb, yes, but 10psi (if that's what it's reading) is below factory spec I'm guessing. That's not necessarily a bad thing on a built motor if done intentionally i.e. to accommodate a high volume pump or need you run thicker oil. It's worth checking I think. I'm not saying don't send it, but especially with the gobs of low end torque I'm sure you have, a lot of beans at low rpm or obviously revving the piss out of it could hurt something.

Is that a standard or a high volume pump you just installed?

It would bother me that a newly built engine had low oil pressure.

I've been off the forum a few days - check in and seeing the past couple pages I kept saying to myself 'This is the Jeep equivalent of a 'trial of a man's patience'! You have been so even keeled and taken every hit in stride!

And not just these recent hits - all over them along the way. You've built this Jeep with patience through multiple situations that would have had me breaking something.... Something I'd need to replace, and would likely be expensive...

Keep it up. We're pulling for you!

Thanks. I'm really trying to not lose it. There have been times I just wanted to throw a match in it and walk away. But I'm trying to keep the end results in mind. Finally being able to get out on the trails again is what I'm wanting. I truly miss it.

If it's gasoline diluting the oil that quick, it would reek of gas. How does it smell? And just for trouble shooting, might be worth trying heavier weight oil and see what happens. See if it brings the pressure up and stays steady or continues to get lower again.

It was flooding out with the other tune. Now that I've gone back to tune #2 it's running and not fouling out the engine like it was on tune#3.
The oil I drained yesterday was the oil that was diluted with fuel. And that oil was 30wt breakin oil.
Today I bought 15-40wt oil and when I checked it there isn't any fuel smell from it.

Talked with Ryan yesterday about the tune and he'd said the only adjustments made were to the fuel trims.
So I'm going to try installing the tune again and see what happens.

I'm DONE for the day... I need a break from working on the damn thing.

Got an appointment on Tuesday at the VA again but this time with the amputee clinic. It's for them to check out that sore on my leg and to see my new socket that I just got.

More parts are arriving next week also and I should have the new injectors NLT 28 Nov also.

Wih my dodge truck pcm my dash gauge fluctuates a lot. It will be up high and then after a while the check gauges ligjt comes on and my oil pressure gauge is zero. I added an after market gauge and the lowest it gets is 10 psi at idle after warmed up. Not that our engines are the same but similar

I'll see what it's doing once I put the mechanical gauge on it. My Dodge doesn't have any of these issues.

This is the second time this line has blowout like this. Don't know if it's too much pressure or what. I'd sworn all the line I bought was rated for 150 PSI or more but looks like I'll have to replace all the lines with other tubing.

How close is that break to the compressor? Could the failure be heat related?
