Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Rick, you got a lot of things ticked off the list. Give that motor a quick fire up to see what's what!

Once the transmission is hooked up I might do that before I start on the exhaust.

Might be too late, but have you looked at silicone hose that's 1.5 on one end, 1.25 on the other?

I got a hose that fits. I had my measurements off too. It's 1 1/2: at the radiator & 1 3/4 at the thermostat housing.

I took the easy way out and got a flex hose. But I think at some point I'll swap over to formed hoses. I plan on flushing the cooling system at least twice once it's running considering the amount of rust that came out of the old radiator.

So all the information I'd found so far on the radiator hoses recommended were a NAPA brand.

Upper-8030 This is 1 9/16 & 1 13/16 which fits the OD of the water pimp & radiator closer.
Lower-7759 My problem with this one is that it's 2" ID on both ends which doesn't fit the water pump or radiator size.

Now using the vehicle information from NAPA I came up with these hoses.

Upper-Gates 21324
Lower-Gates 21054

Of course I haven't verified that these Gates hoses fit but will here soon.

It shouldn’t be too difficult to combine angles of different houses to achieve what you need if you can’t find a preformed setup.

That’s what I did with my upper radiator hose that is now custom with an inline screen. Ended up costing me around $35 total using a little ambition and purchasing the hose, billet coupler, tension clamps on Amazon.

Same as the stock radiator to the water pump iirc…after playing this game I know you can make it work by combining preformed and a coupler if necessary.

If necessary, you can run following hose couplers based on the ID of the hoses where you’d couple the hoses.

- 1.5” to 1.5”
- 1.75” to 1.75”
- 1.5” to 1.75” (link)

Yep, I've played that mix & match game before but if at all possible I'm trying not to have extra joints which can add up to extra points for leaks.

I'm going to try out the Gates hoes I listed and see what I come up with. Granted I've got flexible hoses on upper & lower and they fit so I don't know if there really is reason to change them.

I understand. That’s the nice part of using a billet coupler and proper clamps.

My setup is dead on and basically laughs in the face of leak concerns (those clamps are on good). I sent the flex hose back to Amazon since I didn’t need to use it.

Does the corrugated hose flow as well and does it last as long against leaks? I’ve found corrugated rubber to crack over time due to engine heat.

I’d want to know that info if I were you. Just trying to help by giving u info to consider since little things can add up. Hopefully the hoses you mentioned above will do the job.

What are proper clamps?(links?) I hate the cheap screw drive crap on my jeep

I would shy away from Gaetz hoes.

I'd always had better luck with Gates so curious why you are saying no to them.
What brand do you recommend then?

You and me both.

And I appreciate the suggestions. My local parts store used to be good about me searching through their hoses but I don't know if the same guy is still there.
