Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Wildman - You are the one to teach me more. What is the purpose of the added hood pins? I have always found the stock ones work great. Thanks

Safety.....

I have a 1997 TJ but the hood was from a 99 or 2000. The secondary latch on a 1997 was in the grille and would catch a hole in the hood. On 1998 & newer they switched to the secondary latch being on the hood & catching a hole in the grille. So since I don't have that secondary latch anymore I wanted/needed something for safety. Hood pins do that,
The added PLUS of these hood pins are that they lock. Protects the stuff under the hood.

Ever see a TJ take a hard roll? The first thing that usually happens is the hood flys open. Preventing this is the main purpose of the pins.

If I were to roll over the last thing I could care about is my hood.

Some of use care about such things. Last time I rolled I broke my hood latches so I had to use a strap across the hood so I could drive it home. And I was 3+ hours away.
I've also had a hood latch fail while driving down the road and had my hood fly open and smash into the top of the windshield frame. Dented the hood & broke the windshield.

Been puking for the past 1.5 days... Daughter started a new job and must have brought something home with her...
Hoping I'll be better tomorrow since I'm finally starting to feel better now.
Really want to get this done. New sensors will be here tomorrow afternoon. So should be taking it for a road test Wednesday.

You don't have morning sickness do you..??
You haven't been careless have you..?? 🤔

Just wondering because "they" want me to believe that is possible in today's world because "they" want it to be...

I guess I'm just too old and old school to go for that nonsense..

Nope thank goodness no.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I honestly haven't been sick sick in a long time. I've had my off days when I didn't feel well or might have puked now & then but I've been pretty lucky for the past few years.

I'd reached out to @NashvilleTJ about his old GPS when he upgraded to the tablet.
He was graces enough to send me his old GPS and related items.

I'll mount it where I've got my old GPS currently.

When I can afford it I'll upgrade to the same tablet that Jeff has now but this will work for the time.

To finish the hood pin latches install here's the bottom side.

I'm thinking at some point I'll pull the latches back out and put some edge trim on there. Or not...

You can see this one bit me and drew blood.

Granted the only time the edges would be exposed was when I had the latches out so putting edge trim on might not be critical.

The camshaft position sensor is going to be fun getting at. It's down under the York mount.

The crankshaft position sensor is behind the starter on the passenger side. Since I was pulling the exhaust to install the heat shielding it's easier to pull the starter with the exhaust removed.
