Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

The dash was going bad when I traded it in & the one of the knock sensors would fault out now and then. All typical stuff with that year Chevy.
Funny you mention that, I'm dealing with that exact issue with my truck 🤣

I'm just biased towards these trucks cos growing up my parents had:
Astro van
Gmt400 Tahoe
Gmt800 Tahoe x2
Gmt800 avalanche x2

You can get the dash rebuilt with new stepper motors from what I've heard but it's been a while since I've checked into it. Mine had the 6.0 & that thing was a thirsty MF..... I only owned it for 9-11 months. The lot I'd bought it at couldn't sell it and had dropped the price on it to a ridicules low amount and at the time I just wanted a 3/4 for towing. And diesel truck prices were crazy....

Then when I went to buy that White Ram it was another rainy day in western WA and the roof around the cab light leaked water so I got the dealer to take $3K off the price.
The heated seats seem to be a problem because then ones in my 06 had stopped working too.

The one CRAZY thing to me is that this new truck doesn't have a back up camera. Why anyone would install an aftermarket radio and not install a back up camera is beyond me.

I've seen a 6 door Mega cab before... But you need two city blocks to turn it around...

And we all know how important turn radius is in families with a bunch of kids:

“Get your ass in line right now. I want an abrupt 180* in that posture.”

Kid: “Yes sir’”

My kids were required to stand at attention and salute me when they were little bitties. I let that go when they learned authority. Today they are still very respectful (mostly), and want to do the same things with their kids. They’re so great. They invite me to get coffee and stuff like that. Proud dad. 🙂

Been in them. The back seat is tiny. Can't flip the seat backs down with car seats in place.

My seat backs flip down, I keep tow straps and such back there in case I see a Ram in need. ;)

The back seat in a Mega Cab folds down 2 different ways.
Can the back seats in your Fucked Over Road Disaster say the same? Answer: No.
Can you fold the back seats in your "Precious" down flat and turn the back seat area into a bed? Answer: No.

Fords fold two ways also. Zero desire to sleep on a platform in the backseat.

Send a little bit of that to us on the East Coast...

I wish I could.... I'd gladly send it all to you...

…and dump some in Nashville on the way.

I'm so ready to not have to deal with the white stuff all the time. If it was only here for a week or so then sure but 2-3 or sometimes 4 months and I'm happy when it melts.

Got the Jeep unloaded and the trailer parked on my neighbors lot today. The Jeep is back in the garage melting right now.

One thing I did was to put a stripe on the fender of my trailer to tell me where to put the Jeep at. I used to know where that sweet spot was but with the new WB and since it's been 12+ years since I'd loaded the Jeep onto the trailer I'm a little rusty... My sis worked construction for 30 years so she had some of the high vis marker paint which works great for this. It'll wear off over time I'm sure but by then I'll have it figured out again.

I'd left the Jeep running to defrost things while I was parking the trailer and just as I hopped into it to turn it around to pull it into the garage the main airline blew. Don't know where yet but it's just one more thing I'll need to redo & fix. I'm glad I set it up this time where everything clears even when it's on the bumps. On the previous build if it was on the bumps the steering would hit and it limited how far I could turn side to side. This time I made sure I didn't have clearance issues so even though I'd lost air pressure I was able to turn the Jeep around at the end of my driveway and then pull it into the garage.

I'll go back out to the garage in a while after I eat something and figure out how to pull the videos off the stereo that I recorded using the Rock Cam.

The RockCam give a very different view but I do wish it had sound. I might try to upgrade the camera and see if I can add sound. I know I have to cut a wire on the camera to remove the parking guidelines. Right now the camera is mounted on the bumper but I'd also thought about installing it on the front axle instead.

I'd really like to have a camera mounted on each high steer arm so I could see what was directly in front of each tire. IMO that'd be pretty cool & useful.

Got more snow last night.

So I did some maintenance on the snowblower. I'd broken one of the shear pins last winter 😢. Got it replaced.

Then did the driveway.

Our plow service we pay for hasn't done the roads yet @ 1300...

Then as I was finishing the driveway I picked up a rock 🪨. Killed the engine too.

Took a little bit to get it unlodged.

We're supposed to get some more snow over the next few days.

And YES I'll gladly send it all to Tennessee and Virginia.
