Will a wiring harness from a 5.9 Dodge work in my TJ?

That era of security (VTSS) is built into the PCM itself, and is turned on by the dealer as needed for the options ordered. I've only seen one Grand Cherokee without, and all Dakotas I played with had it. Rams were the only one that had limited activation.

I have a 97 Ram PCM I can send you as a test that does not have VTSS, but you will have to buy one, as you won't have gauges. The 96 and 97s had direct gauge outputs, not over the bus like 98+.

Paul do yo have any experiance with Skyed ECU Tuning? They claim to be able to turn off the security in the 1998 GC PCM. https://sykedecutuning.com/jeep/jee...-grand-cherokee-security-skim-key-delete.html Seems for his needs the $100 to do this might be worth it? I've never dealt with them not used any or their software.

Yep it makes me wish now and then that I had swapped in a LS motor but I'll stick with the Magnum for now. It seems they are finally starting to offer some tuning options. Not any where near what you can get for GM products but better than nothing.

well hopefully today I bought an ecm without security off ebay. I have to wait two weeks now for it but he said it is off a 98 dakota 5.9 auto with no security. Fingers crossed. I would have had mine shipped out to have the security removed but mixed reactions on different sites about who can do them and how many times they had to send them back to get it done properly. Thanks everyone for the help and the leads. I didn`t think it was going to be this difficult to get an ecm for this.

So I got some information from the Wrangler Forum that might help you. I remember you saying you had to drive a good distance to get your PCM but it seems you can turn off VTSS system by installing the BCM. Here are a few links about how to do this.

This was the first I had heard about being able to do this so hope it helps. I don't know how close a JY is to you that you could find a body control module. They started offering the factory alarm system in 1998.5 on some Ram trucks.
