Will I lose much performance going to 31 inch tires?

Im running 31's on 15in wheel and no its doesn't...sits just under the light.

My 33 clears the rear brake light

Ran 31’s with no lift and 2.5” lift with 3.73 gears And 6-speed. You should be good to go!

31" cleared my brake light, but on the stock wheel it was too tight against the rubber bumpers causing tension on the tailgate. You can rig up a spacer, buy an different spare mount, or (what I did) remove the lower rubber bumper until you can get wheels with more backspace.

I have two rubber bumpers on the tailgate and one below it. The lower one was pulling the tailgate out at the bottom. The PO of my jeep had 31" spare on stock wheel and the tension caused the tailgate to not close properly allowing water in. I removed it then reinstalled it after I got the new wheels.

I've seen some models that have all the rubber bumpers on the tailgate itself, so if you have one like that you might not have that issue really. Really its just something to be aware of.
