Is there a factory style rocker switch that fits in the stock switch panel that is an on-off-on that I am intending to use for in cab winch-in/out function? I have seen the aftermarket style switches for that but I would like to keep the factory look if possible and use only one switch.

Saw this on Ebay when i was buying my locker switch recently. This should fit the factory position. You'd need a relay as well.

You might find a 'factory style' 0n-Off-On, but I would be concerned it would be too easy to accidentally bump it on or bump it to the wrong direction.
Plus, the knock-off switches usually aren't backlit with the dash lights like oem.

Ill have to look closer but I swore that was only an on-off button for a solenoid disconnect.

I think its would just be muscle memory like any other switch. But I have a solenoid in between battery and winch that will have a separate “winch on” switch so it will be unlikely ill be activating the winch accidentally.

Another issue when winching is the need to bump it small amounts.
Your switch would have to be Momentary On - Off - Momentary On.
Good luck.

Yeah, thats been the tough thing to find a factory looking switch with a spring return to center.

Let's not overlook that there are no good places in the TJ dash where switches currently reside that are a good place to run a winch control switch, none.

Out of curiosity, why would a dash mounted switch not be optimal for winch control? Is it just not the best place ergonomically with it being too far from the steering wheel?

Winches by definition are for self recovery. If you are trying to steer and move the rig with the winch, you want the switch hand braced so it doesn't bounce against the switch, you don't want to have to look down or away from the the terrain to find and control the switch.

If you recovering someone else, there is almost always a spotter involved, same thing, you should not take your attention off of the spotter.

I run this mount on my dash, I have the controller close to the steering wheel and I quite like it. I can easily see what's going on, steer and run the winch.

This is working for me...but I have three options...wired, wireless and dash.

My big issue is someone needs to be in the seat holding the brakes for any functional recovery of another vehicle...but that's not what we're discussing.

That does make a lot of sense. I will probably re-think my positioning of the switch with this in mind.

I got the base model Badlands on my LJ and its wired only switch. But I would love to do wireless and have the in-cab wired as backup in case of failure. I might invest in a wireless winch and move this one to my $500 crap can or a trailer.

Seems easy enough to add to the winch. I might get a set.

Note if you have a three pin controller you're set. My five pin on my 9.5 XP requires it to be switched "on" which I accomplish by turning my dash switch on. You can do the same thing plugging in your wires controller or lots of other ways to get around it...like mounting a switch on the side of the solenoid/contactor pack.

Ill have to look. Right now I have a 500amp Solenoid by the battery as my disconnect that is switched from the cab so the wiring is there where I can run it further and have it go to the switched wires on the winch solenoid.

Right but a three wire winch is always "on" and a 5 wire isn't.

Someone smarter than me can find or post wiring diagrams and explain it better.

All of this is in the control pack and has nothing to do with your solenoid and switch.
