That seems like something that only works with a limited number of connectors. Most of my vehicles are old, so I'm constantly dealing with broken tabs on connectors. I usually use safety wire to hold the two sides together, but sometimes I use zip ties. The safety wire is more elegant, but you have to be careful so that it won't cut insulation and cause a short.
I followed the link and I got this video. I don't understand the hack.
