Would 2.5 from Cherokee XJ drop in YJ with 2.5?

Hey guys. I’m looking at a 1995 yj with a blown 2.5. Rot free which is pretty rare for New jersey, it’s equipped with an ez locker, a Tom woods driveshaft, and a lift with tcase drop. Automatic with AC on 34.5 super swampers (look fairly good too)

I have a 1994 cherokee with a 2.5 in it with 112k on the motor. Only thing is is it’s 2wd, not 4wd.

Would my 2.5 from the cherokee drop in? Guys asking only 1300, Id likely ditch the huge lift and bring it near stock and let my father drive it around.

If it’s like the TJs where the Cherokee 4.0 is far from just a bolt in afrair, then likely not.

Not 100% sure though.

I’m trying to find information and it seems to me it’ll just bolt in. I was worried about bolting into the trans if maybe something was different. The swampers on the Jeep must go for $600 as is themself

According to Quadratec the 94 Cherokee and 95 YJ 2.5's are interchangeable. You may just have to swap over some accessories.
