@Chris This thread is the best thing going! Thanks a lot for doing all the research and putting it in one place!
This is wrong. My jeep has bothChris, I believe the passenger side airbag deactivation switch was only installed on vehicles that didn’t come with a rear seat.

Fantastic information, I think what you have compiled is better that Wikipedia, thank you so much.
For anyone reading these posts who might wonder what there jeep was originally built with, engine, axles, gearing,
on down to seat material and color along with whether the the gas cap was tethered or not can find the original
build sheet that jeep used on the assembly line at:
https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.html
When you go to that site you need to find the area on the left labeled "Your Vehicle", beneath that find and select
"equipment listing". The screen will change and offer a place to enter your VIN number. Do that and press "search".
You will receive a file in your download folder that you simply rename with the file extension "PDF" Open it
and find everything you always wanted to know about your jeeps secret history and inner workings. An eye opener.
Are you seeing a diff page than I am? I cannot find a place to put in my VIN and the previous links do not work/under maintenance.
Thank you @jodomcfrodo ..... I finally got it to work. I had to for some reason type it in a separate google search, then copy & paste the VIN # replacing yours. Now I can tell what gear ratio I have & a few other things. This is pretty accurate I would assume?Replace my vin number with yours in this link:

IE:

I seem to having the same issue here. I am unable to retrieve the build sheet for my Jeep. I’ve used the link and replaced your vin with mine and it says “no records found corresponding to the vin provided”. Is this site still functional?
Here is the link to my search.
