Hi, Guys I have inherited a 93 Yj. the straight 6 is shot (now) but the manual gearbox is fine(not sure of the gearbox name)

I'm considering getting a 1998 jeep TJ with a 3-speed auto box and swapping the manual over if it's posable.

i drove the tj yesterday and it was shockingly slow. compared to my YJ when it was running.

the guy selling it said that its normal and the straight-six autos are renowned for being slow compared to the manuals

If anyone could enlighten me that would be great

Both cars have the 4.0 straight 6

I'm aware that i would need to fit a clutch pedal and slave cylinder to the tj . would the yj parts fit ?

Jeeps, where i live, are hard to find as are the parts.

Thanks and best regards Jode

It should be an AX-15 which is a popular swap. Before you go down that road what size tires and what gear ratio do you have? I would be willing to bet it's not properly geared for the tire size.

Thanks for your reply Alex. it has stock tires and rims. that being said it may of had something bigger as its been cleaned up and repainted. so I'm not entirely sure about its previous life tbh.

The Doner YJ and the Potential TJ . Even tho the TJ looks clean after inspecting it its apparent that it has had a hard life before
