That's smart. He could get a neighbor to take pics. I see so many Jeep ads here that say, " frame is perfect with zero rust." Yet they don't post any pics of the undercarriage.

Edit: This reminds me of a TJ that I looked at when I was looking.
It was a nice 20/20 Jeep. IOW, it looked good from 20 feet away or 20 minutes before dark.
It drove OK, but when I looked at the frame it was almost broken in two just a bit forward of the rear hangar.
I think a good speedbump or pothole would've snapped it.
When I showed the crack to the seller, he was either genuinely surprised or an Oscar-worthy actor.

I found a nice 02' auto and told the guy I would pay his full asking price for it. I told him I had the cash with me and was on my way (3.5 hour drive one way). He replied, "sounds great, see you when you get here." I texted him when I was 5 minutes away to let him know we were almost there. He texted me back, " Sorry, I sold it 15 minutes ago to someone else." I wanted to stop by anyway, but my wife said it wouldn't be a good idea. I listened for once.
Had this happen to my son and I. Drove from Poughkeepsie NY to Baltimore MD. 10 minutes out called to give eta he sold it an hour before I got there.

So when was the last time he looked at it himself? Does he even know the condition under there? Sounds like he is hiding something or is clueless about it. Neither are good.
Take a cheap Amazon endoscope to look inside the frame if it looks OK on the outside.

It was my son that couldn’t cool down. He has spent over an hour on the phone w the guy the night before at 11pm. Told the guy we were leaving 4:30am coming straight to him and had cash. If it wasn’t for that roadside bbq I think Ben would have gone berserk
That almost happened when I bought my current Rubicon. It was listed at 11pm Saturday night, I contacted the guy first and told him I would drive straight there (2 hours to D.C.) when I got off work at 3:30am. I was almost there at 7am when he called me. He said someone wanted him to hold it until the banks opened Monday morning and was going to give him a check for $1,000 to hold it. He wanted to give me the first chance to get it because I was the first to contact him. I told him I had $9,800 in cash and would buy it IF everything checked out when I got there. It all works out in the end. My son totaled the ‘00 Sahara we picked up a few days later and now has a beautiful South Carolina ’06 TJR that is almost ready to go up on Rockjock 4” coils and get a Savvy UAM at the same time. Gonna be nice.
This is my dream Jeep! Exactly what I envision when I think TJ Rubicon. Just wow….
Don’t stop searching. If your debating a $17k Jeep 4 hours from you and it’s not your dream forget it. Wait for your rig to come. Look farther and travel wherever you need so when that rig is in your driveway and your dumping cash into it you can still smile.
