Hi all. I am new to this forum and hoping that someone that has had experience with the Yukon Grizzly Lockers can help me. I have a 1997 TJ 2.5 Manual, 3.75" Terra Flex Lift with 33's and 4.88 Yukon gearing. I had a very good and experienced shop put the new gears, axels and Yukon Grizzly in 4 months ago. I have only put about 600 miles on it now and changed my oil (with Yukon Gear Additive) at 500 Miles. Being very cautious, I have broken things in as recommended and never had it off road. Unfortunately, from day one I get a loud and aggressive popping/snapping/binding noise occasionally when taking of or sometimes coasting around a corner in first gear. Occasionally I can be driving a straight line when I hear this but never really hear it out of first gear. It just doesn't sound like the normal chatter/ratchetting that I have heard about. I have called Rusty's but they are telling me that this is normal. I just have a hard time believing that is the case... Did I get a bad one?

I think that's just the nature of ratcheting differentials, just like the Detroit lockers. If you want quiet operation, you would need a selectable locker like an Eaton Elocker or ARB, or alternatively a limited slip like a Torsen or Truetrac.
