Hey guys,

This thread is going to be my build diary from the very beginning to present day. What better way to start my build thread then to share with you guys my story.

Where to begin!? I’ve been obsessed with TJs ever since 2014. I always been drawn to them on the road whenever I spotted one. In 2015 I started casually looking up Jeeps for sale as I wanted a finally make a purchase, but everything I saw was in rough shape and high mileage and I lost interest. The summer of 2016 I got the itch again, as vacationing down the shore and seeing the Jeep convention on the Wildwood, NJ beaches. Again, couldn’t find anything decent in my area and lost interest. Now it’s 2018 and I’m literally drooling each time I spot a Tj on the road. I started looking up YouTube videos of Tjs and found a video of this guy who did a vlog of his TJ purchase. It showed him recording his Jeep coming off of a auto transporting rig and he continues to say he bought it out of state and it’s finally here. Well that got me thinking, to widin my searching to out of state Jeeps for sale.

BOOM! I find a Jeep located in Indiana that hit 95% of my checklist needed to make the purchase. My CheckList Consisted of 2001-2002, Sport, 4.0L, I-6, 5speed, Dana 44s front and rear, minimum rust, Exterior Black, Interior 80’s Pattern, Low mileage, and had to be completely stock. Well, this Jeep I found had everything above including 72k miles!! But lacked the Dana 44s front and rear and had 31s instead of the stock tires and rims. This TJ was only on CarGuru for 3 days when I saw it and I immediately jumped on it. I called the dealership and got the car fax report, which came back clean. I also asked for more photos including engine bay, frame, exterior, interior etc.. and everything seemed to perfect to be true. I knew if I went for it, that I would be taking a risk without ever seeing it in person and test driving it, but guess what? I took the chance! 2 weeks later I watched my Tj pull up to my local mall and offloaded into my possession. I don’t think I stopped smiling ever since.

I’ll post photos from purchase to present day with daily upgrades etc as time goes on. Hope to have you guys follow my build diary and enjoy as much as I am! Thanks for looking and can’t wait to talk and gain some information and knowledge from you all.

Looking forward to the photos. I love hearing stories like this, and you definitely made the right choice by purchasing a TJ. Your wallet might disagree with me... (mine does too) but you only live once!

Just got the Jeep back from my mechanic. I was so worried that I made a mistake with purchasing this on a whim and on gut instinct only. Well he just called me back and said that I did a really good job with purchasing this and it’s in really great shape! Ugh, so relived right now and it only needed minor work. Inspection and emmisons passed and I’m officially street legal! until the upgrades.. haha

Dude... that thing looks clean!

Does it have any markings anywhere on that hard top? I ask because that's very clearly not a factory hard top, it's an aftermarket one. Doesn't look like the Smittybilt hard top though.

Congrats on the purchase! Removing some old nerf bars was the first thing I did too. Looks so much better! After I lifted 2" and put on larger tires, I needed another step solution, so I just recently bought these Body Armor steps after being turned onto them by the good folks here: Body Armor TJ-4121 Side Guards

I have been getting a lot of compliments and they look great. Mine will be a 99% street Jeep, so I didn't need anything more hardcore that required drilling into the tub.

Thank you!! They look great! I’ll have to look into them when the time comes.
