Does anyone still make a set of exhaust down pipes without the pre-cats? I am having trouble locating a set. I can find the piece with the cats but not without.

I want to replace the exhaust from the manifold back and would like to keep it the same as original.
I think mid-2000 was the transition year for the split manifold and mini cats.
Weren't there also split manifold versions with no precats? Federal emissions perhaps?

What has to be changed?
What are the downsides of switching to a header?
Are there any updsides?
Do they have the same cracking issue you hear about with aftermarket exhaust manifolds?
Is there one that would be recommended above others....?
Would I be better off locating a used exhaust that matches what I have?

Well, I can't answer any of your questions, but I'm interested to learn the answers.
All I can contribute is that the dual output muffler that I put on last winter is now annoying the hell out of me.
I'm ready to have a plug welded into it on one side.

Don't go swapping early and late manifolds around without being very sure the port isn't being partially blocked. The exhaust port size and locations are different
