EDIT: I decided to not go through with the JKU purchase. Read the entire thread for more details on why.

Well guys and gals, I did the unthinkable. We kept looking for a different “family” vehicle, and all the while the only thing I could think about is A JKU. Sure, it’s not as roomy as a Minivan, but it gets the job done and I’m much happier driving it than a minivan.

So, now I own a TJ Rubicon and the newest addition... a 2013 JKU Rubicon 10th Anniversary!

Don’t worry, the TJ ain’t going anywhere either. This is just a “fun” second vehicle.

Here she is:

Haha, you know what, I’ve actually had a lot of people PM me and ask for a JK section. I mull over it though, because then it’s not really a TJ specific forum, is it?

I think the wife will be driving this more while I drive the TJ more. I said I wouldn’t but a JKU unless it had the hard rock bumpers and the power dome hood. Those bumpers are $2000 for the pair from Mopar and the hood is another $1000! Sheesh!

I won’t go crazy with this one though. It will get a 2” lift, some 33” wheels, a winch, and some better looking fender flares. That will be it though!

The guy asked me if I wanted to trade in my TJ, I told him he would have to pry it from my dead hands.

So even the seller knew that a TJ was a better Jeep that's why he wanted yours !!...and yeah keeping the mods minimal would be the way to go

This thing is too big to go where my TJ goes. It is however very comfortable on the highway!

Chris, Chris, Chris...

I've got a part number for you before you ever do the first oil change. Also, 33's fit stock, like 31x10.50's fit a TJ. Go 35's...you can thank us later. Get the tuner to adjust for tire size and a transmission cooler installed before you go and get those new wheels and Duratracs.

If it starts leaking, I've got the fsb and p/n for the kit.

Welcome to the dark side!
