97 2.5 ignition / firing issue?

Hi All - have adopted a 1997 TJ 2.5L which sat in a garage for 5 years. Among other things, replaced fuel pump and line, distributor cap, spark plugs and wires, starter, alternator and battery. The jeep has run fine for about a year, but now is having stalling issues and occasionally will not start. It will stall at times at a stop sign for example, and can be sluggish at times under initial acceleration. When it does not start, the starter is doing its job and you can smell fuel after a few attempts. The stalling and not starting are intermittent, not constant.
My local mechanic replaced the MAP sensor, for some reason thinking that would do it, but the situation is the same. Any input will be appreciated.

Have you replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, Coil, and/or the O2 Sensors? I'd start with the TPS and see what happens.

I determined this was beyond my expertise or patience, and took the TJ to a local expert. Turns out it was the crank sensor. R/R and runs like a top again.

Back again. Ran fine for a couple months. One day would not start, and has not started since. Turns over as normal, battery clean and good, all instruments and lights operate fine. Notice I do not smell any fuel after several attempts to start it.

Most times it's the CPS going bad if they didn't use a quality brand to replace it with. It's where I would start.

We've been having good results with the NAPA Echlin brand on a few 2.5's and they are generally easier to find but if you can find a NTK or Mopar they are the best options.

Is anyone aware if there is a way to determine the manufacturer without removing the sensor? It looks very similar to the NTK sensor shown online for this TJ. I do not see a part number visible from the driver underside...

Ordered and installed the NTK crank sensor. Unfortunately, same condition exists - fuel pump kicks on for a second, turns over strong, but will not start.
