I saw this elsewhere and thought it may be helpful for a purchase the next time you need to free a stuck/rusted bolt.

I know that @Chris likes the Kroil and I've had good luck with it as well.

Good test, though it missed one commonly seen penetrant, Break-Free. Break-Free is well ahead of PB-Blaster and just behind Liquid Wrench. Note that PB-Blaster performed little better in tests than WD-40 did which is not even a penetrant.

There used to be this stuff made by permatex called Solvo-Rust.

It worked really well. Don’t know what happened to it.

I was given a case of PB blaster several years ago. I still have 11-3/4 cans left if anybody want them.

yes, I got one from home depot and have kept the mix in it over 3 years now ! It won't eat through the bottle like some believe

Maybe it's my spray bottle, but mine slowly dribbles out over time and will leave a puddle whenever the bottle sits. I figured the vaporization of the acetone was pressurizing the bottle and pushing it up through the straw but maybe not. I just mix up small batches so I use it all up quickly and don't have to store a partial bottle.

Insightful assessment.

"ONE particular test"
These controlled tests mean nothing to me. How they work in the real world counts.
When I'm working on a 20 year old Flanged valve with very rusted bolts in a pit on a water main, I'll try just about anything.
However, Kroil and heat have always worked well for me.

Not sure how it compares to other options, but I used Mouse Milk recently since I had it on the shelf.

I don't knock Kroil, it's good stuff but expensive ! a qt of acetone and a qt of atf is really cheap and IMHO just as good !
