What do think of this e-locker?

Supposed to be brand new with surface rust from sitting in garage. Everything is there. Would work for me. Does it scare you?

It’s not what I like to see, but it doesn’t scare me. I think id offer $300 cash in person. Then I’d clean it up lightly sanding with some steel wool and blow it all out with an air gun. After installing I’d run the 500-mile break in oil and then take a look. Hopefully it would be cleaned up some more. It wouldn’t rust further and it’s all surface.

Do you think it affected the electric solenoid? Or actuator?

I doubt it. For the price, it's worth a shot. That wouldn't scare me either. As stated, clean it up and you should be good to go. I recently saw a post on a gear forum that showed a Yukon carrier that looked like that from the factory,

Could you drop it in a bucket if EvapoRust for a day? It doesn’t eat metal, stops it, and the stuff wipes off. I did with a Hub for a BMW, came out looking like new.

@hosejockey61 is there a way to bench test the solenoid and actuator on these?

I actually picked up 2 Dana 30 Eaton used that said they were working but want to test before putting them in my son’s Dana 30 up front.

You should be able to wire it up with a simple switch. As long as you have shafts or something to make sure the locker engages is all it would take. A friend or two would be helpful (unless they're my friends...). We ran a straight switched wire and it tested fine before we wired it to the SPOD.

I would think just putting 12V across it would be enough to make it click, and then rotating it should make lock in. iirc those take as much as 20% of a rotation to lock in.

...when the gearing happens. Getting closer.

I am a big fan of Marketplace and Craigslist Jeep finds. They have saved me a ton of money on mods.

over the past few weeks i've nearly collected enough parts to re-gear both 97's including a TrueTrac and I'm in for $250, including the bearings & shims. You just gotta be diligent on your searching/shopping.

I keep hunting for Savy / GR rock sliders or a Swayloc , but they seem to be few and far between on FB or CL. The search continues!
