Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Got the radiator installed finally after fighting the winch cables which are down low were I can't reach...
Now the cooling system won't hold a vacuum.... I like this tool since you can test things prior to putting coolant into it. But now I've got to find the leak.

Uh oh. Hoping for a fitting. 😳

Congrats! That's got to feel good!

It feels good to have it running again but I still can't figure out the leak. I need to top off my cooling system and pressure test it. I didn't have enough coolant yesterday to top it off. I'll work on it tomorrow I hope. Went out and started it and let it run for about 4-5 minutes today. So far I'm not seeing any leaks.

You fixed it!!

I wouldn't call it fixed just yet..... It'll hold pressure but then slowly bleeds off so there is something leaking but where I don't know. It's not leaking externally or if it is it's not enough to find it.

I've got a VA appointment with the CLIMB center today for another study that I'm involved with. So I'll work on the Jeep tomorrow and see if I can find something. I'd rather try and fix this NOW as opposed to having something take a shit on the trail.

My appointment today with the CLIMB center was interesting. They are looking at different feet for people like me who are more active and walk on uneven surfaces. To try and simulate this they have a treadmill on some stands to tilt it to one side. Then their other treadmill can raise up to simulate walking uphill & the last one has simulated rocks on it.

Every little while they'd have to walk the belt back up to the high side of the treadmill. They'd have me walk one direction and then turn around and walk the other direction so my prosthetic side one on the downhill side one way and the uphill the other way.

And the treadmill I named Rocky....

Not having a foot to feel with mean you have to pay attention to foot placement and then also trying to look ahead as you step.

For their study I wore 3 different feet today and then next week I'll be using the robotic foot. I walked a total of 7400 steps & 3.5 miles today.

I hate to say this but I've been thinking it since you said you have the vacuum leak on the coolant... Do you think the head gaskets are leaking?

I'm an amateur when it comes to internal engine diagnosis. Curious if there is a way to check to confirm it is a head gasket leak - before just replacing them.

Sorry to say this possibility but I assume you've already run through this possibility yourself...

I'm kinda thinking the same thing...

That was the entire basis of my “Uh Oh” comment above. But I had the common decency to not say it out loud…

😬
