I keep my "ducks" ready, so I can put them out on display when parking near new Jeeps at the mall.

Except for the JKUs and JLUs that wear winches and shackles as offroady jewelry...which is most of them.
The issue here in SoCal is that every 10th vehicle is a Wrangler or Gladiator. It’s hard to drive a few blocks without seeing a Wrangler or a I only wave to TJs and older. The uppity crowd in the new stuff I don’t bother with.
I don’t do ducks, teddybears, sparkly license plate frames or any other dolls. That’s Girly shit.
I just did a 5 day run with over 100 vehicles mainly Wranglers and not a duck in sight.

Call me weird, but I aint waving at any broke dick on a Gold Wing or much anything else modern when out on a kick only no front brakes 70s shovelhead thing I built.

Great thread. I was curious about the same thing. I usually get a wave back, except for the Gladiator drivers. It’s like they don’t know they are driving a Jeep.

When I lived in the Hill Country in TX everyone waved to everyone. In WA State no one waves at anyone, but if you’re trying to get out of a parking lot onto the main road they will all let you in. In TX you will never get out of the parking lot. In WA Jeep’s sometimes wave and sometimes don’t. I tend to wave to all of them and ignore whether they wave back or not. I’m just a Texan living in WA. There are lines of ducks across the entire dash front of every JK- and JL- in WA. It is embarrassing to the name Jeep.

I'd say about 60% of the Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator drivers around here wave. My TJ isn't my daily, so it takes me a second to realize why people are waving at me when I'm in it.
I think there are a few reasons why though:
1. I live in a small town near a college, although I'm not upset with all the cute college girls waving
2. Most of the older Jeeps have long since rotted away, TJs are not as common
3. While JLs/Gladiators are common here, I wouldn't say they are every 5th vehicle, and we only have a few months of the year that are good doors/top off weather

Maybe a Cali thing? Here in TN, most of the JK's, JL's, and Gadi's still wave. Most, but not all. The no waver's seem more likely to be soccer moms and young girls.

And if you have a dash full of ducks? I avert my eyes...

I think it is a Cali thing. But in the mountains like Big Bear or Mammoth, I get waves all the time. I really dont jive with the duck thing
