Yup , Rabbit ( Golf ) platform FWD . The one in the photo is a 84 . It doesn't seem possible to me that's it's a 41 year old car now !

I had a friend at work offer me his '86 (pretty sure, anyways) GTI for the reasonable price of $0.00. For some reason now lost to time, I passed on it. Was it just a VW to me? Did I not want to deal with "da Jerman enjineeering" and all its quirks and challenges? Or was I car-poor (too many) at the time? Beats the hell outta me, but within a couple of years, I regretted not acquiring it. It was a white one, and he was the original owner. Wes (a 350+lb man) replaced it with a Honda Fit.

It didn't. :sneaky:

Sad but true, at least not as factory built. I think the mechanicals can last the time, but the electronic gizmos will scrap the majority of current modern vehicles.

Personally I don't think the mechanicals will be there , Toyota has been de-contenting and living off their reputation for at least 15 years .
This isn't a 22RE .

After retirement wife, dogs and I enjoyed taking the Channel Tunnel and touring Europe in my Land Rover Defender (broke my heart when I sold it, replaced with a JLU), around 10,000 miles a year until Covid and Brexit made taking the dogs expensive and frought with red tape. Saw quite a few cars left behind by U.S. service personnel over the years.
This one in Denmark, no idea what it is, feel free to enlighten me.

That's a big, beautiful Packard! Somewhere around 1950, or so...

*@RangerTJ is correct. Grille shows it to be a '49. (y)
