So, I had the oil changed in my 01 tj about a month ago. It was cold here and I had the heat on full blast when I pull it in to get changed. When I left no heat. It didn't work on any settings. Hoping it was just ironic. I changed the resistor first. Then change the switch in the dash. I also changed the relay behind the glove box. Today I tested the motor and it turned on. So I'm stumped now and have no idea what it could be. I'm convinced they did something on accident when my oil was changed. Can anyone give me some suggestions please?

The oil change likely has nothing to do with it. I know you tested the blower motor itself, but now what I would do is get a test light and test the blow motor harness behind the dash. Turn the blower motor switch to the on position while you have the test light on the harness. See if it’s getting power to that harness.

If it’s not working at all, it could be as simple as a fuse.

Could this be a problem?

I had a similar problem one. I didn't find it until the pulled the switch panel out from the dash. The plug to the switch had gotten hot when the resistor went out and burn one of the wires in the plug. I replaced the switch and it worked fine. The fan motor runs at one speed the resistor slows the amount of current going to the fan motor allowing you different speeds for the fan / blower motor. Also when you have the head unit out to check the control switch. There is a power plug and you have vacuum lines coming off of it. Check the power plug to make sure it is not damaged.

I haven't found any burnt or melted wires yet. This is driving me insane. I appreciate the advice.

Where would I put the test light on the harness?

On the end of the harness that plugs into the blower motor. Test both ends of it, one of the terminals should light up (the positive side) if you have the blower motor switched to on while the vehicle is running. If it doesn’t light up, then you know you aren’t getting power to the blower motor which points to something about else like the switch itself or the resistor.

The plug doesn't have power. The blower motor relay does have power.

I'm not electrical genius (I'd have to look at the FSM for the electrical diagrams anyways), but that makes me thing maybe it's the switch itself?

2000 TJ, blower fan only worked on 2 & 4 settings. now it went completely out. Replaced the blower fan switch. No luck.

Whats the next step? replace the resistor or the blower motor itself?

Hi Augustus. I had the same problem. The tech replaced the resistor and the motor works like a champ!

I’m having a similar problem, my blower motor doesn’t work on any setting. I replaced the switch and the resistor today to no avail. I did notice that when I slide my AC/Defrost selector switch I can hear air hissing. Would a cracked vacuum hose or a bad vacuum switch keep the fan motor from working on any setting?

So as I was replacing the switch i noticed my panel was cracked and also my thermostat knob wasn’t working (the one that chooses AC/Heater setting). Started it inspect the vacuum hose and i noticed the plug on the far right was melted. Instead of buying the mopar kit for 50+ bucks I went to autozone and got 3 female spade connectors, after I cut the plug I attached the spades to the wires. Wrapped them with electrical tape so they wouldn’t touch and installed them to the male prongs. blower now works an all 4 settings.

Took some time and frustration but everything is new now and hopefully won’t have to change anything for awhile. Went ahead and replaced the blower motor as well.
